Keke is initially a little shy, but warms up quickly and is a very sweet girl! She is about 2 1/2 years old and loves to go on walks, run in the park, and play with her doggie friends. Keke has an easy going play style, and has done well in small play groups with various other dogs. It is very entertaining to watch her and the other dogs play together in the park. Keke is a perfect walking companion, because she is well-behaved and easy on a leash; plus she radiates such happiness while walking that it’s contagious! Keke’s perky ears always point toward things that she finds interesting while walking along … it’s very cute! Be sure to meet Keke, and let her work her charms on you! The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip. Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Phone: 770-214-3590. The hours of operation are: Monday through Wednesday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Thursday 12:30 pm till 6:00 pm; Friday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Saturday 9:00 am till 4:00 pm. The Carroll County Animal Shelter will be closed the last Friday of every month for deep cleaning, staff training, and animal enrichment.August 20, 2024, 2:14 am

Doreen wins over everyone she meets with her smiling face and willful spirit. She is 3 years old and 46 pounds. She lives in a home with her foster dad and another dog who is twice her size. Her favorite activities include walks, car rides, and putting her head in your lap for pets. Doreen was brought to a high trac shelter as a found pet in December 2023. Shelter life is stressful for most dogs but for Doreen it was especially difficult. Volunteers described her as friendly but shy and nervous. She wasn’t eating and losing weight. This is clearly a dog who once had a home, and it must have been awful for her to nd herself in a noisy, chaotic shelter. Doreen had many volunteer fans who loved her sweet nature and were worried about her being at risk of euthanasia for space. Doreen was lucky enough to nd her foster in May 2024. Doreen is relieved to be out of the shelter but would love to have family to call her own. She walks well on leash and knows to “sit.” She is friendly towards other dogs but would do best in a home as an only dog (she gravitates towards people over dogs) or with a submissive dog (who won’t mind her headstrong nature). Her experiences in life and near starvation have made her protective of her food bowl around other dogs so this is also something to be aware of. We recommend feeding her separately if there are other animals in the house. In time, when she is in a secure, safe environment this may be self-correcting. Age: 3 years Weight: 46 lbs Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm  negative and on prevention Temperament: Fine around other dogs but would prefer to be an only dog at home, or with a submissive dog.  Good with older, respectful kids, no cats.   Training, House trained, crate trained and good on leash  Email for questions: sonaligokhale@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. While he still needs help learning about new things in the big world, he walks nicely on the leash so can go exploring and learning with his family.
