Story
Currently in a Toronto foster home! Hello! My name is Hoya, and I’m a 4-year-old female Golden Retriever-Jindo mix, weighing 27 kg (59 lbs). With my large, sturdy frame and calm, friendly nature, I’m a truly special companion. Rescued from a shelter in Korea just before being euthanized, I’ve been given a second chance at life and can’t wait to share it with my forever family. I’m a quiet dog who rarely barks, and I’m incredibly friendly with people—even strangers. I trust humans completely and am happy to let them pet me. While I get along with other dogs, I tend to prefer spending time alone or enjoying one-on-one attention with my humans. I’m non-aggressive and absolutely adore showing affection—it’s in my nature to love and be loved. I’m well-trained and know commands like “sit,” “wait,” and “house,” which I follow with ease. On walks, I’m the perfect gentleman: I stay calm, walk steadily beside my human, and don’t pull on the leash. I enjoy exploring the world at my own pace, sniffing around with curiosity, but loud noises or sudden movements don’t faze me. I love treats and am cooperative with grooming activities like baths and brushing. My greatest joy comes from being close to people and feeling their love and care. My gentle personality and warm heart make me a wonderful addition to any home. Are you ready to welcome a loyal, sweet, and affectionate dog into your life? I’m Hoya, and I can’t wait to meet you and brighten your days with my love!

Story
Harry is a male Labrador and Jindo mix, estimated to be around 5 years old. He has the appearance of a Labrador, with a slightly chubby build, weighing about 26kg. Having spent a long time in a shelter, Harry is still learning to trust and feel the warmth of humans again. His natural temperament leans toward the calm and reserved nature of the Jindo breed. He rarely barks and is very well-mannered. At first, he may be a bit shy around new people, but he quickly warms up, especially when treats are involved. He happily accepts treats and, once he gets comfortable, will follow people around, showing affection and even begging for snacks in the most endearing way. Harry is also great on walks. While he may get a little excited and pull on the leash at first, he gradually settles down and enjoys a relaxed stroll, sniffing his surroundings at a leisurely pace. He gets along very well with other dogs. He has no signs of aggression and is so gentle that he even shares his treats with his friends. Although he doesn’t seek out interactions with other dogs often, he knows how to quietly coexist and socialize when needed. Possibly due to his long stay at the shelter, Harry initially seemed unsure about how to receive love from humans. However, during his time at the training center, he has been opening up more and more. Seeing how he interacts with his trainer, it’s clear that he has learned to trust people again and has even developed a playful, affectionate side. Once he bonds with someone, he enjoys being petted and will nudge for more attention once you start. Harry is a calm and gentle soul and when he lets his guard down, he reveals his sweet and adorable personality. What he needs most of all is unconditional love. He is a truly special companion, deserving of a forever home where he can receive the love he has been waiting for. ❤️

Story
Fergie and his siblings are alive because a kind woman would go feed their pregnant mama who was living outside near a riverbank, shortly after being born there, mum and pups were taken to safety into the SPCA PV sanctuary. Now its time for them to find real families to love them. Fergie is stunning with his sleek black coat and white toes in a squirmy puppy body. Fergie was born with extra toes in his back legs, a condition that is not harmful (in fact some snow breeds were bred with them, so perhaps he was meant for a life in Canada!) Fergie is healthy, vaccinated and ready to travel to her new home with flights available to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and less frequently to Vancouver island. We think Fergie will grow to be about 55 lbs. Fergie has been exposed to cat and is playful with dogs. If you think you might be his happy ever after or a foster on the road to a better life, message us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com or go direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (check your junk mail in case we get redirected when we respond)
