Say hello to Chanel! Chanel is the happiest, most friendly and playful pup there is! Her tail never stops wagging and she loves everyone that she meets! Her New Year's resolution is to find her forever home! Chanel weighs about 37 lbs, is house trained, crate trained, walks great on a leash and sleeps soundly through the night. She has the best time playing and doing zoomies with her 50lb foster brother and boy is she fast! Chanel loves to play with all the toys and chew time with some No Hides, antlers or bully sticks is her favorite way to settle down after some playtime. She waits patiently for her meals and has almost mastered sit. Chanel gave birth to 9 stunning puppies in November and is now ready to find her forever family. Chanel is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and microchipped. Chanel has not yet been spayed. On a predetermined date (within the next 6 months) Chanel will be spayed at the cost of Home for Good Dog Rescue. At the time of adoption, a $500 deposit is collected from the adopter to ensure she is brought to her appointment. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. All adoption applications must be completed on www.hfgdr.org**   HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!   In order to apply for adoption and set up an individual meet and greet with one of our dogs, please visit us at www.hfgdr.org.   Find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HomeForGoodDogRescue.

Story
Meet Bicardi! Bicardi is a 6 year old, flat coated Retreiver. He is the sweetest dog we've ever met. Loves absolutely everyone, and just wants cuddles and kisses. He is perfectly toilet trained and has yet to bark in his foster home. He is calm in the big city and perfectly fine sleeping all day while his foster works. He is a high energy dog and can walk for hours in a day without getting tired! He's calm with kids, men, other pets, loud noises, doorbells - this dog seems basically impossible to worry. He is still learning some leash manners, and gets overexcited to be walking. Someone with a bit of patience and willingness to walk slow until he gets the hang of this is probably best. He knows how to sit and lie down, and loves to practice his tricks for a treat. He loves kisses, a good butt scratch and a soft toy to play fetch with. If you're looking for a family dog or a new love of your life this boy is the one. He'll keep up with your adventures and definitely get you fit, but as long as you like to move this dog is basically no trouble at all. He's already so well trained and such an angel of a boy!! He's currently being fostered in Manhattan, NY.

Story
Meet bear who is a beautiful young boy looking for a new home.  He is approx 11 months old and weighs 75 lbs.  Bear does not realize his size and just wants to play and tends to knock the small kids over in the house.  He also wants to play with their older dog a little more than the dog of the house wants to play.  For these reasons bears family is looking to find him a home with no small kids and a dog who can match his energy.  They adore him and want him to love loved and have an active life which he deserves.     Bear is good in the car and likes to go for rides.  He loves belly rubs and getting lots of love. He does pull on a leash a little so an easy walk is best for him.   He has zero aggression and is just a big silly boy who doesn't know he is so big.  If you want to meet him fill out an application on our websiteInterested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. Story
From her foster: "Meet Fizgig! Fizgig is simply a goofy puppy! She is playful and energetic, and will stop at nothing to bring a smile to your face. She loves playtime, but only if you're around, as she is interested in anything you are doing. Playing with a rope toy? Fizgig will be there. Sweeping the floors? She's right by your side, making herself hard to ignore. Fizgig is loyal, and wants to be with you at all times. She will sit, silent, right next to your chair until you are done working. The only noise she makes is the hard "whack" of her tail when you give her attention. If you even glance in her direction, she will take the opportunity and ask for a belly rub. She loves belly rubs! Fizgig is really smart. She is learning to sit and she is also working on her potty training. She is crate trained and quiet in the crate. She gets along with kids and dogs of all ages. Fizgig is about 16-17 weeks old and 27 pounds. She is looking for a loving home that will give her the attention she deserves. Will your family be the one that Fizgig brings endless happiness to?" We do not know what Fizgig thinks about cats. ***You must provide a vet reference for a current or past pet you have/had.*** We do NOT ship our animals. Story
From her foster: "Meet Frizzle! Frizzle is the sweetest puppy ever. Sure, she loves toys, but she would much rather ignore them and get love and attention from her favorite human. Beware: she does see herself as quite a lap dog. She has been known to literally collapse into your arms when you pick her up. There is nothing she won't do for a snuggle. In addition to Frizzle's sweetness, she is also adorable. There is no way you can resist petting her soft puppy fur. With that fluffy face, her begging skills are irresistible. Frizzle is super smart and easy to teach. Currently, she is working on learning to sit, as well as potty training, which is going really well. She is also crate trained, which is super impressive for such a young puppy. Not a word from this girls mouth when she's in the crate, but once you walk in the room she whines, as she knows she has a chance of getting loved. She gets along with dogs and kids of all ages. Frizzle is about 16-17 weeks old and 28 pounds. She is seriously the sweetest girl, who wants a loving home to give her all the snuggles she deserves." We do not know how Frizzle feels about cats. ***You must provide a vet reference for a current or past pet you have/had.*** We do NOT ship our animals. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. SPIKE was born at the Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine, the night after we brought his mom, a pure bred German Shepherd Dog into our care. He was born on 21st September 2024 and has lived with his siblings, his mom and a few other teenage German Shepherd Dogs.   We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. SPIKE was neutered on 25 November, he is current on his vaccinations, although he will require his rabies as he is currently too young for that vaccine. He is microchipped and at the time of his neuter surgery weighed 13.40 pounds. We do not know what breed he is mixed with, but can confidently say his mother is a German Shepherd Dog - RHEA and can be seen in the photos. SPIKE is a young pup and so his personality is in the early stages of development and so it will be the family and home environment that dictates how he behaves as he grows up. There is no reason for him to not be great around children of any ages, unless of course the child/ren make him fearful or hurt him. We do not have any age restrictions for families with children, but do expect responsible families in regards to both children and the pup and have 100% supervision when they are together. SPIKE will need a family that has the time and means to care for a pup, which includes training, socialization and explosing him to as many environments as possible, but in a way that he is comfortable, safe and happy. H is going to be a medium/large dog and so an active lifestyle is important as well as a family understanding the mental needs and intelligence of this kind of dog. We are looking for a family that understands he will be teething, s=he will be going through his "teenage" phase and will be a lot of work. Spike has an adoption fee of $550 Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application.
