Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Tippy!! How absolutely handsome is this boy?  Well, he is a love too and has that flat coat personality. Going outside??  Tippy want out!   Going inside??  So is Tippy!!  He wants to be with his people!!  In terms of energy level, Tippy is very active. He uses the entire back yard to run and play, and we are seeking a home where he will have a fenced in yard, as he loves romping so much.  While he loves to be out and about running and playing, if you call him, he’ll come back for some love and 'atta  boys.' In addition to his access to a yard all day, he also loves to hike, and, so, we are seeking an active family for him.  Tippy’s humans and his canine friends are important to him, and he solicits affection from both, snuggling until he gets too warm.  If Tippy sounds like the perfect match for you and your fur family, then please get that completed application to us! Our best assessment (NO GUARANTEE) is that Tippy is approximately 2 years old and a flat-coated Retriever/Aussie-short tail mix.  Tippy is neutered, up-to-date on core vaccines, and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.  ____________________________________________________________________ **If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended. To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.)  When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application.  (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email. (So, please check your SPAM.)  Our process is straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $450 applies. YOU CANNOT MEET OUR RESCUE ANIMALS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants.  Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to complete an adoption in Schoharie/Albany County. Thank you for your interest. (Sorry, we will not respond to generic 'check the box,' 'Is s/he available,' 'Can you give me more information' inquiries.) Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. SPIKE was born at the Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine, the night after we brought his mom, a pure bred German Shepherd Dog into our care. He was born on 21st September 2024 and has lived with his siblings, his mom and a few other teenage German Shepherd Dogs.   We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. SPIKE was neutered on 25 November, he is current on his vaccinations, although he will require his rabies as he is currently too young for that vaccine. He is microchipped and at the time of his neuter surgery weighed 13.40 pounds. We do not know what breed he is mixed with, but can confidently say his mother is a German Shepherd Dog - RHEA and can be seen in the photos. SPIKE is a young pup and so his personality is in the early stages of development and so it will be the family and home environment that dictates how he behaves as he grows up. There is no reason for him to not be great around children of any ages, unless of course the child/ren make him fearful or hurt him. We do not have any age restrictions for families with children, but do expect responsible families in regards to both children and the pup and have 100% supervision when they are together. SPIKE will need a family that has the time and means to care for a pup, which includes training, socialization and explosing him to as many environments as possible, but in a way that he is comfortable, safe and happy. H is going to be a medium/large dog and so an active lifestyle is important as well as a family understanding the mental needs and intelligence of this kind of dog. We are looking for a family that understands he will be teething, s=he will be going through his "teenage" phase and will be a lot of work. Spike has an adoption fee of $550 Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application.
