You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Main Email CARE (caretoadopt@gmail.com), (803) 622-9813 for more information about this pet. The most accurate and up to date information about adoptable pets is on our official website at www.caretoadopt.org. Meet Sirius Black!Adoption Fee: $400Sirius Black was found as a stray, but sadly he wasn't microchipped and no owner came forward. Now that his vet care is completed, he's ready to find his forever family.Breed Guess: Flatdoodle - based on odds, we're going with that. ;-) He has a docked tail and straighter fur than most Labradoodles, but he could also be a Labradoodle. Not completely unheard of. Typically, Wire-haired Pointing Griffon's don't come in black, but that's another possibility. There's also Griff Doodles. The list goes on a bit more.No matter what his breed is, Sirius Black is one handsome fella! Pictures don't do him justice. This boy is sweet, smart, and very playful. He LOVES water. He can be crated, but he doesn't care to be left alone so he will flip is water. He's totally fine with laying in a pool of water and almost seems to prefer it! LOL* We don't have a good way to cat test him, but will dog test him soon. We think he'll be fine with dogs and he did fine with his brief kid test. If interested in adoption, email your application today! A completed adoption application and home visit are required for approval to adopt a CARE dog. Out of state adoptions okay. All dogs receive a distemper/parvovirus vaccine(s), kennel cough vaccine, rabies vaccine, dewormer, monthly heartworm prevention, flea & tick prevention and treatment if needed, microchip, and are spayed/neutered through CARE.The most accurate and complete information about available dogs can be found on our official website at www.caretoadopt.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.www.caretoadopt.org Adoption saves lives! Story
ADOPTION FEE WAIVED! ALSO AVAILABLE TO FOSTER. No doubt you’ve seen those stories about dogs waiting 200, 300 or even 500 days before being adopted. Gilley (short for Gillian) has been at Save the Strays for more than 1,825 days – an incredibly long time to wait for that special someone to come and take her home. Why is she still here?   At 7 years young, Gilley still has a lot of stamina. She’s just crazy for toys and can destroy most of them within 5 minutes. But she has slowed down a bit over the past year and is quite happy to just hang out, get a belly rub and take a nap. She’s really quite sweet and very loyal.    Because Gilley has been here so long, she may need a little time to adjust to a new home and owner. She’s lived in a rural environment with few visitors, so she should be introduced to new sights, sounds and people in small doses. Gilley’s also initially a little uncertain around other dogs, especially if they’re also nervous or too forward. She might do best in a quieter home where she’s the only dog or in a home with only one other laid-back dog of similar size because she will play with other dogs once she’s comfortable with them.     At Save the Strays, we consider the first two weeks (longer, if needed) following adoption to be a trial period and will take Gilley back if the adoption doesn’t work out. We are also waiving Gilley’s adoption fee because we really, really, really want to see her get the home she deserves.    Not quite ready to give a dog a forever home? Gilley is also available to foster if you live within 75 miles of our location. If you have questions or want to apply to adopt or foster Gilley, email us at info@savethestrays.org.        Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 2:52 pm

Story
HOW COULD WE POSSIBLY MAKE PERI MORE ADOPTABLE? Why Peri hasn’t been adopted yet is a complete mystery to us. This 3-year-old lab mix is sweet-natured; good with adults, children and other dogs; house- and crate-trained; microchipped; spayed; up to date on vaccines; heartworm-negative and on prevention. She has the energy to be a good walking or hiking companion but also likes to lounge with you on the couch. She adores attention but doesn’t demand it. And WE'VE EVEN WAIVED HER ADOPTION FEE! What more could an adopter want? Not quite ready to adopt? How about fostering Peri? Come on, dog lovers, Peri is a gem!
