Hi all, I'm Franky! I'm still getting used to having a name, since not long ago I was only seen as a number. I lived my whole life being used for toxicity tests and living without the comfort of a warm bed. Luckily BFP came, and now I'm part of the Freedom Fields family! Due to my past, I am shy and still nervous around people. I am looking for a family that is kind and patient with me as I learn to trust and how to be a dog. I'd also prefer to have a friend in my home that can help teach me. I can't wait to experience my new life with my forever family! Story
Darwin is a happy, healthy hound/terrier mix (45 lbs, 9 years). We're looking for an experienced dog lover to care for him. We're flexible about timing and working with you on what makes sense (e.g., temporary fostering, re-homing, etc.). Darwin is an amazing companion. He loves being loved, taking long walks (and naps). If you want a true buddy dog, he's your man. Darwin thrives when he's the center of your world. Until recently, he's been our only child- with no other young kids or pets in the house. In that environment, he's the perfect low-maintenance dog. We now have a toddler and a second baby on the way, and sadly, don't think we can have Darwin and young kids simultaneously. He's GREAT with people and older kids (and certain dogs), but not as good with young kids. We think he'd be happiest as the only child again, getting maximum time and attention from you, without other young kids or pets in the house. We love him more than words can say. In certain cultures, Hummingbirds represent JOY. They are considered unique creatures in the bird kingdom (which is filled with unique creatures). Their feathers are said to bring love and open the heart. Only with an open heart can you can taste the bliss of life, taking in all the wonderment and delight it offers. What does this have to do with Remus? If he were a bird, he would be a Hummingbird. He brings joy to everyone he knows and conjures open hearts, love and wonderment. He is a unique creature in the dog kingdom (which is also filled with unique creatures). He is a lover of life and a lover of the people he knows. He loves to play games, go on adventures, take long hikes, ride in the car, chew on a Kong, learn new tricks, make up fun things to do, and chillax. He is open to the world, but so far, the world has not been open to him. We are open to him and LOVE him dearly. Staff and volunteers play with him and take him on outings every day, BUT, he needs a home. A real home, with someone who can love him like we do. He's very fun and funny and lively, but not too lively (he has an off switch). He’s smart and talented and loves to learn. He’s done some Nose Work and played on agility equipment, just for fun. He knows tricks and is always up for learning more. He is VERY photogenic – we always thought he should be on TV. This Hummingbird of a dog is charming and silly and quirky and amazing. He needs his special someone(s)—it is guaranteed that he would bring you joy and conjure love into your heart and home. You just need to be open to him and he will bring it all!
