Story
Meet Bloom, who actually goes by Lola! Lola is a foxhound who is so sweet and has been in rescue now for 11 months while patiently waiting for her forever family! Lola has a pretty sad backstory but such a bright future! Lola was originally a stray last summer in Bloomington for a few weeks. She was finally captured and entered rescue very skinny and scared back in September. Months later her family found her listed for adoption. They had trusted someone to care for her when they no longer had housing suitable for Lola. That person purposefully let Lola loose in Bloomington. :( Her family was devastated at all Lola went through, but so happy to have found that she was safe and cared for now. Lola entered the rescue's respite program while her family worked to secure suitable housing to get her back. Unfortunately, her original family decided they would not be able to take her back and officially surrendered her to the rescue this past spring. Lola is the sweetest dog with so many amazing qualities, but she also has some specific needs that will require a super special family. First, all the ways in which Lola shines: Lola is potty trained. She has done fine in a crate; however, she doesn't need to be in one because she is such a good girl and doesn't get into anything she shouldn't when left alone. She is super content to just lounge on the couch when you're gone. Or when you're home, she loves to curl up next to you during a show or movie - the perfect Netflix companion! Lola occasionally likes to play with toys and when she does, she's usually asking for a game of tug. Not surprisingly for a hound, one of Lola's favorite things in the world is to go to fenced in Sniffspots to explore, sniff, and run around. It is so fun to see running free - you can just see the joy in her face. Lola is good with kids and her former family had a baby/toddler. She also loves to play with other dogs but can be dog selective (more on that next). She gets along best with dogs her size or smaller. Now let's get to Lola's specific needs and challenges: Lola can be reactive to strangers (mostly men), unknown dogs, and also cars driving by. She has a loud hound bark and will pull and bark loudly at trucks driving by on walks or strangers/neighbors/dogs that are too close. For this reason, she needs a strong handler and we generally avoid taking her on walks. She is naturally thin and pretty low energy so she doesn't need walks as long as she has time to explore in the yard. Because of Lola's reactivity, especially if she sees another dog, Lola's ideal home will have a privacy fence and/or land that is private from other people/dogs. Lola is on anxiety meds and will likely always need to be on them. Some of her reactivity can be worked on (and some free training sessions will be provided by the rescue) but her future family should be knowledgeable or willing to learn about reactive dogs and understand that there will always be some level of reactiveness to manage with her. Lola gets along with dogs her size or smaller and she is dog selective with dogs bigger than her. For example, she is best buddies with our Saint Bernard and they love to play with each other, but Lola can be reactive towards our Great Dane. A quirky thing about Lola is she can get jealous when 2 of her foster dog siblings are playing and she'll bark at them - she doesn't love to share her friends. :) For this reason, her ideal home would have just one other dog for her to play with or no other dogs as Lola wouldn't mind being the center of attention! As far as cats, Lola was cat tested with a dog savvy cat and did fine but was not able to live with cats that were not dog savvy and fearful of her. Lola is truly one of the sweetest dogs we've known and can live a happy life with a family who is understanding of her needs and how to best support her. We know her forever family is out there and we look forward to discussing if that could be you. Additionally, if desired, we would love to offer dog sitting to her adoptive family as we would love to keep in touch and also know it can be hard to find sitters for reactive dogs. Lola's journey has been documented on our foster page on both Instagram and Facebook at "The Joneses Foster" if you'd like to see more of her story.

Story
Hi there! My  names Hugo! It’s a pretty big name for a low rider like me but it fits with my big personality! I just LOVE all people and dogs that I have met! My foster mom says that she thinks little kids might not be a great idea for me at this  time because I am still a bundle of energy and need some work on my manners, but you need to know I would NEVER purposefully hurt them. What can I say I just get so excited to see people that I sometimes forget that Four on the Floor is the rule! She does think that I would like to have another canine friend in the home that can match my energy and play style, however its not necessary as long as my family can give me the proper outlet for my energy. I LOVE to go on walks and smell all the smells!  Once I am tired or if everyone around me is busy I do enjoy playing with toys and chewing on bones! I really like crinkle toys, there is just something about the noise that makes my ears so happy.  I am a very curious boy who loves to be apart of any action that is happening.  I have lived with both canine and feline friends and get along great with all of them. My foster mom says that I am a super smart boy I know sit, no, and leave it. So the manners that I am lacking shouldn’t take long for me to master! Like I said I love my people so I am not a huge fan of my kennel and would much rather be with my person. Due to my curiosity my foster mom thinks that at this time I do need to be kenneled when no one is around to keep me out of trouble. I will sing the song of my people while in the kennel so no shared walls would probably be best unless your neighbors enjoy live music! I have heard from multiple people that I have the softest velvety ears they have ever touched and the cutest little waddle when I walk. I do have a funny front leg that turns to the side (from a previous injury that healed wrong?) but it has not slowed me down at all. Okay well  that’s all I have to say for now, I see my foster sibling getting his leash on so I better run! If you would like to learn more about me fill out an application and I will make sure my foster mom gets back to you! If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about The Rescue Crew adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our Adoption Process page on our official website.  All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.  The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. ##2084747##
