Story
I'm 36lbs, and I am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $450 Meet Dottie! This young and playful pup is full of life and curiosity. Her hound nose leads her on exciting sniffing adventures, and she adores basking in the sun and showing off her zoomies. A true cuddle bug, Dottie loves giving hugs, snuggling up for pets, and rewarding you with the sweetest kisses. She’s a social butterfly, making friends with everyone she meets, and her love for human affection is unmatched. Dottie’s soulful gaze is her way of showing gratitude for the love she receives. While she’s already mastered the “sit” command and is working on “lay down,” Dottie is eager to learn more with the right guidance. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and kids, making her a perfect addition to any loving home. Let Dottie bring a “dot” of love to your heart and home! All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. Story
Hear what Woody's foster has to say about him! Woody is a wonderful companion who walks exceptionally well on a leash, which is fantastic because he absolutely LOVES taking long walks. These walks are also typically his preferred time to go potty. Although I’ve had limited success with the fenced yard I created for him, I’m continuing to work on that. While there were a few accidents in the house early on, I believe it was mostly due to nerves and adjusting to his new environment. Woody is also sensitive to wind and rain, so on those days, he prefers shorter walks and uses potty pads indoors (who would want to potty in a storm??). Woody knows several basic commands like sit, paw, off, come, and stay. He’s been very friendly with everyone he meets and has done well with guests and increased activity in the house, although he tends to prefer a quieter environment. When it comes to other dogs, Woody has done well with those we’ve encountered during our walks. However, those interactions have been brief, so it’s hard to determine whether he’d be comfortable living with other dogs in a home setting. Woody does have some resource guarding tendencies, so I’d recommend he not be in a home with small children. We are working on this, along with his crate training, which is improving gradually. Some days he does great with his crate, while other days are more challenging. Overall, Woody is a sweet and loving pup about 97% of the time, but the remaining 3% can make him unpredictable. As shelter dogs often have past trauma, this is understandable. Without knowing his full background, I’m still learning what may trigger him, which is why I’ve enlisted the help of a private trainer to address the resource guarding, crate training, and his fear-based behaviors. Woody truly is a loving dog who enjoys ear scratches and will happily lay at your feet to "claim" you if you let him. With the right care, he’s sure to make a wonderful addition to the right family.
