Story
This adorable little special needs girl is Pumpkin. Pumpkin was born with a deformity that makes it difficult for her to swallow. She is the sweetest little 1.5 year old girl who currently weighs 7 pounds. We are feeding her small amounts regularly throughout the day and have a special chair for her for when she eats. If you are interested in hearing more about this little girl and are experienced with special needs pups, please reach out to us. Story
🦭Meet Walrus 🦭 Per foster mom: “Walrus is enjoying hanging out- he loves toddlers, is interested in cats but seemed to figure out quick what murder mittens are and respects them 😂, loves all dogs, acts like he’s never been on a large bed before with creatures he enjoys and constantly smushes his face into you and rolls around.” Walrus officially had his nose job 👃 with our friends at Harmony Vet Care! While he was specifically bred to have a “rope nose” 🤮, this significantly impacted his ability to breathe — something that is already difficult for frenchies. While we joke about this surgery being a nose job — it is far from cosmetic. He will now be able to breathe much better 🙏 and is less at risk of infection from having a giant fold. Walrus will be available for adoption soon and does well with dogs 🐶 and cats 🐱. His ideal home is one with brachycephalic breed experience, as they tend to have more health issues and need specialized care. 🐾

Story
Available for foster to adopt! 🐾 Harper is approximately 2-3 years old and she’s a happy go lucky girl. She loves her toys and gets along great with other dogs, but she doesn’t understand personal space. She’s learning manners but has no fear when it comes to getting her toys. 🧸🦴 She would need a home that will continue her potty training schedule and routine. Any doggie friends should be tolerant because she loves to play and doesn’t care if her foster siblings aren’t in the mood. 😬 She likes everyone she’s ever met. She does refuse to walk on a leash, so her new home must have fenced-in home. Her owners should be prepared for future expensive bills as always with a frenchie. She originally had a pretty bad bad ulcer on her eye that ruptured, but thanks to her foster & our amazing vets, it has healed. She will be spayed in a few weeks and then she’s ready to move into her forever home! 🏡

Story
Meet Guadalupe! This 4 year old mama is the sweetest thing around. She battled chronic ear infections that were so severe that she had a head tilt. After seeing our favorite board certified Dermatologist, Dr. Wilson, she is doing so much better! She is now available for foster to adopt as she still has some vetting left to do. Apply to adopt at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUVR/dog All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats over 8 months of age, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need. Any questions, concerns and suggestions, please feel free to contact us at ALDR@animalluvrs.org.

Story
Meet Coco 🐾 This Frenchie puppy came to our rescue after her new owners spent thousands of dollars. She was from a breeder and as soon as her owners got her, she began showing GI symptoms that were indicative of megaesophagus. Her new owners realized they were not able to continue to spend the amount of money necessary and reached out to our rescue for help. While we always try to keep pets with their owners, they were honest that they were not financially able to keep up with her care, and we are very grateful they acted in Coco’s best interest. ❤️‍🩹 We have since gotten Coco seen with one of our vets, and they do not think she has megaesophagus 🤞. Since switching her diet and giving her smaller meals, she has not vomited or regurgitated. We are hoping this means she may just have GERD and will need an antacid and special food/bowls to keep her healthy. Coco’s story is unfortunately very common — breeders (especially for breeds like Frenchies that are prone to so many health issues) oftentimes do not health test their dogs or provide a health guarantee. They don’t care about the animal besides the money it brings them. 💔 We are optimistic that Coco will have a happy ending, but heartbroken to think about so many other dogs out there like her, who may not be able to get help. 😞 Apply to adopt at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUVR/dog All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats over 8 months of age, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped.
