Story
Marlo (A137246) is a 1-year-3-month-old shepherd mix who weighed just over 50 lbs at intake!02/03/25 Update from foster: Marlo aka Miss Marls Barkley is doing FABULOUS in foster! She was said to be super sweet and has done great with the other animals in her foster home (including dogs of all sizes and cats)! She is very curious and has some escape artist tendencies. She has objected strongly to being kenneled and has busted out. She has also been eying up the fence. Her foster did feel that enrolling in her a basic obedience class would do her wonders for her training! They also felt she would love being a skijor buddy or somebody's running partner to help get some of her energy out. Even though she can be like an energy bunny at times, she also has a sweet and cuddly side and enjoys giving kisses! A funny quirk they also found was that she loves to sleep under the bed! If you are interested in meeting this goofball and feel that you live an active lifestyle that can meet her needs, please let us know! 01/18/25 This sweet girl is Marlo! Marlo was brought to the shelter because her previous owners had too many dogs and were struggling to keep her contained. When Marlo gets loose outside, she likes to run! She has also been known to get into the neighbors' trash when she is loose. She is looking for a home that will keep her contained either in a fence yard or on a leash or tie out when she goes outside. Marlo was said to love playing outside; she just needs someone to help her be on her best behavior when she does. Marlo was said to be a shy but friendly girl who will bark at strangers but gets along with kids and other dogs. She does not have history with other types of animals. Please make sure all introductions are done in a safe and controlled manner. She was said to ride well in the car and has been known to be rough and gentle when playing, depending on the situation. She does need some help getting over naughty habits like jumping on counters, but she was said to be housebroken and will go to the door when she has to go. Miss Marlo was described as being a very sweet and loving dog who just needs some time to warm up to strangers. If you are interested in meeting Miss Marlo, please give us a call!February 3, 2025, 6:17 pm

Story
1.5 yr old Male German Shepherd, He is a super sweet boy who has a medical, genetic brain disorder, Mostly is affecting his memory. It's like every day is the first day in meeting him. It has taken him months before I could pet him. I am gaining trust with him, but that has taken a lot of time and understanding. This condition has made it difficult to get him to relax around new people. He has never shown aggression, he cowers or tries to hide. He has been in rescue a very long time and he is just now ok with me. He will need an owner who understands he needs time, a lot of time to become comfortable. His social behavior is not about you being a good person. He needs someone who is not going to be offended by his lack of trust with humans. Sad that, that needed to be said, but so many people have expectations on how a dog should behave around them because "every dog loves them" He needs a person who will not take it personal when he doesn't immediately seek out love and attention. He will need a number of visit here in Fairbanks before he can go on an overnight. With that said people living outside the Fairbanks area is not possible. Here is a link to see a video of him https://fb.watch/a_Kh5Kl5Sf/ Ideal home is a quiet one, not filled with a lot of people coming and going. He needs someone who does not have high expectations nor does he need someone who has a timeline scheduled for him to overcome his behavior. He needs someone that has the mindset of Here we are and you are welcome to take as much time as you need to trust me. Are you that person? Story
Zion is a Shiloh Shepherd, he is 6 yrs old, came in to the rescue because his owner had passed away. Zion is under-socialized with people, other dogs and new environments. We are currently working on his lack of confidence as he is a pretty fearful boy. He doesn't enjoy car rides, as he will hunker down and hide while in the truck. He has had a lot of changes and we are slowly working on his fear issues. Due to his fears he will not be adopted to a home with children or a home who plans to have children, preferably be the only dog, a very low key home environment without a lot of people coming and going. Potential must have experience with Shepherds and must have a 6 foot (or higher) fence.

Story
Please welcome Libby, a 12-year-old Shepherd. She’s currently in Palmer with a foster. While she may be a senior she is still full of energy and sass. Her last vet appointment she had no medical concerns. She loves going on walks and watching the world roll by. It doesn’t matter what or who strolls by the house, she’s content to just sit and watch. She’s a very sweet dog and we’d love to find her the perfect spot to spend her senior days. She does great with one of the foster dogs. If you like to arrange a visit you need to have an approved application on file with the rescue. Applications are found on the rescue's website.
