Story
Sex: Female Breed: German Shepherd xEstimated Date of Birth : 08/29/2021Another momma in need. We love these momma dogs. They are strong, they are survivors and their nurturing tendencies transition into their adoptive homes. They tend to bond quickly and become the protectors their family needs. They’re loyal and kind and because they’ve cared for other living souls they care deeply for their families. They have some of the biggest hearts and Opal is everything we love about a momma dog in need. This sweet girl was picked up as a stray with two tiny puppies. Puppies so tiny their eyes weren’t even open yet. We have to wonder if there had been others in the litter that didn’t survive. But Opal protected her remaining babies with her life. She needed to get them somewhere safe and lucky for her she was picked up by animal control and taken to our city shelter. Those two remaining babies probably wouldn’t have survived life on the streets. Opal and her babies were then picked up by our rescue and have thrived at our rescue ranch. Opal was an amazing and protective mother and her babies have grown into healthy and vibrant puppies now ready for adoption. With her mothering duties complete it’s time we focus on what Opal needs most…a home. She’s given of herself and she deserves to have someone give to her. Someone who will value everything she’s sacrificed and give her the family she’s never had. If you love the sweet moms as much as we do please consider giving Opal the family that she’s always dreamed of. Give Opal her home. Story
Sex: MaleBreed: German Shepherd xEstimated Date of Birth : 09/17/2023Soft, sweet and loves everyone he meets this is Jacob! He has the softest energy, an easy going nature and is just a touch shy. All living things are his friends. Jacob is great with the dogs, cats and donkeys in his foster home. He is fine with little dogs and dominant dogs. He currently lives with an active, dominant, social female pitbull and they get along great. He also lives with a large dominant, playful, pushy dog and he is good with his interactions as well.  He loves to hang with the dogs and follows them around the yard.  He is a submissive/soft dog, but has been social in all interactions. He is very playful with other dogs and loves a good game of chase. We’d love to see him with another fun and playful dog to pal around with in his future adoptive home. He has been very good with his kitty friends. Curious and likes to see if he can get the cats to play but he corrects extremely easily.  He has respect for the donkeys and just leaves them alone. Smart boy! Jacob was pulled from the shelter on his last few days. With so much shelter overcrowding even good dogs don’t get much of a chance to be seen or adopted. We’ll never know why his former family didn’t claim him but Jacob has never looked back and instead focused on the future he is so blessed to have. A future made possible because a foster family said yes! And he’s getting lots of time and training to made him the perfect family member! Jacob is both crate and housetrained. Because he is young and still learning he’s crated any time he can not be directly supervised. He is loving his crate more and more and initiates going into the crate when it’s bedtime. He might whine a bit, but corrects easily. Jacob does not appear to have had any obedience training, but is catching onto everything very quickly.  He loves people, but is a shy guy; however, he is overcoming his shyness the more socialization he gets. He follows the humans around the house and just wants to be with them. Such a soft, gentle loving little guy.  He is not protective over food or bones and allows sharing with dogs.  He walks ok on leash but needs more practice and he does not jump on people.  We would love to see Jacob with a family that loves working and has patience with shy dogs who are very soft and submissive. Given his gentle/soft nature, we don’t see him with kids at this point – but he has no issues with kids – they are just likely to be overwhelming.  Jacob needs another playful/young dog he can romp with and to give him confidence. Jacob is not an escape artist and can be left outside, but his area needs to be puppy-proofed.  He is pretty low energy and is capable of laying around for long hours while you work. Jacob has been good off leash for hikes and he will follow the dogs some, but really wants to be with his humans. Jake was lucky to make it out of the shelter which is sad because he has so much love to give and is really an easy dog to work with. He learns quickly and wants to be with his humans, but is also a lovely companion for dogs of all types! Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: German ShepherdEstimated Date of Birth : 09/04/2023Her soulful eyes are what pulled us in. Eyes begging to be noticed. Eyes that pleaded for her chance. Such a sweet, gentle, unsure little girl how could we say no? Gidget is thankful every day that we said yes instead of just walking away. She needed the chance we gave her and is now showing us what an incredible and sensitive soul she is. Those soulful eyes that pulled us in are exactly who Gidget is. A gentle and unassuming presence simply wanting the home she’s never had. We know we can find that for her and with your help this sweet girl is going to have the most amazing future! In the shelter Gidgets sad eyes were getting lost in the sea of sad eyes that fill up our public shelters. So many of these dogs never make it out. Shepherds, pitties, huskys, breeds that are overbred and make up a massive percentage of the dogs currently in the shelters care. Gidget sat for a month. Her family never came and no one was interested in adopting her. A month with absolutely no hope and she was placed on the shelters euthanasia list. Those sad and soulful eyes became even sadder. A fosters yes gave Gidget the chance she so desperately needed. That yes literally saved her life. Gidget has never looked back! Very petite for a shepherd Gidget is extremely affectionate with humans. Foster care is building her confidence and we are now seeing the dog she was always meant to be. Gidget has a very gentle play style and needs the appropriate introductions when meeting new dogs. She can be nervous with initial meetups but with time becomes more comfortable and confident with new canine friends. She’s crate trained and doing well with her leash walking skills. Gidget would love to find a forever home where she can continue to grow and build her confidence to be the well rounded girl we know she can become. Interested? Just fill out the application and come meet Gidget today! If you are interested in adopting a Marley's Mutts please fill out an application at http://marleysmutts.org/adoptionprocess/

Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: German ShepherdEstimated Date of Birth : 04/24/2024What happens when shy shutdown dogs are given a chance? We can promise you’re going to see a whole new dog! This was Reina’s story. From terrified and alone she’s now the life of the party. This sweet young girl just needed the right environment and time to decompress. Shepherds are often very sensitive dogs and in a shelter setting they can be completely overwhelmed. Overwhelmed means you see negative behaviors and not the dogs true personality. Reina just needed her chance and now that she’s got it what an amazing and spunky girl she is! Almost 2 months, that’s how long Reina sat terrified in her shelter kennel. The noses, smells and activity never letting up. She could feel the desperation of the other dogs and as she felt that growing tension her own desperation grew. Shy dogs don’t do well in a shelter setting and with her breed she stood little chance of making it out alive. With no owners and no adoption interest she’s was euthanasia listed. She’d hit the limit of a sad life devoid of anything good. She desperately needed that good and with the last minute yes from an amazing foster family she finally got the good she’d been waiting for. Change for Reina didn’t happen immediately. She still didn’t trust even in the new environment. She needed time to decompress and she needed time to feel safe. Once she did we saw a brand new dog! Reina loves other dogs. They really help her come out of her shell. She has a rough and rowdy play style that is loads of fun. Shes gaining more and more confidence daily and we know in the right home she’s going to be a ridiculously amazing adult dog. Reina’s future home should be committed to continued confidence building and include at least one other fun loving dog she can pal around with. She’s crate trained and her leash walking skills improve daily. With this 2nd chance Reina’s future is now incredibly bright. Want to be part of that future? Apply today! Story
Please contact Isabell (pawparent@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Toby came visiting Paw Parent from a neighboring property. After some investigation we found out that the neighbor did not want him anymore and was quite happy when we took him in. He is a gently giant (about 100-110 pounds) that gets along with all dogs and loves people. Due to bad breeding his hip is very sloped and is giving him trouble walking. But he manages quite well and is on joint supplements. He is about 3 years old and is very playful and affectionate. He is very loyal to the person he bonds with and always wants to by its side. He is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated and ready for his new this time forever home. He will make an incredible and loyal friend to a lonely heart. Please call 661-724-0642 or email us at pawparent@gmail.com if you would like to meet him.November 4, 2024, 4:07 pm
