Story
This sweet 4.5-year-old, Shepherd mix came to our rescue from a kill shelter while pregnant, and we're so grateful she found her way to us. Beverly Cleary is a gentle giant at 90 pounds, and she's eager to find a loving home where she can finally settle down and write her own happily ever after. Shepherds, like Beverly Clearly, are known for their intelligence and loyalty. They are active dogs that thrive with regular exercise and mental stimulation. While Beverly is a loving and affectionate girl who adores human companionship, she'll thrive with an experienced owner who can provide consistent training and guidance. With patience and positive reinforcement, she'll blossom into a wonderful companion. Although she's dog friendly, we think she would do best with male dog or a submissive calm female. She's potty and crate trained. We require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions. If you are interested in meet or adoption me, please fill out an adoption application at www.boxersandbuddies.com

Story
Serena is a gorgeous, loyal, and affectionate 5 year-old German Shepherd. While she experiences stranger danger (and is still uncomfortable with crowds), she delights in human contact within her trust circle. This lady needs her cuddles and will become your faithful friend in no time. She has a play-until-you-drop relationship with other dogs, so if you already have a large dog at home, she might be a good fit. She acknowledges cats as they calmly walk by without chasing them, showing more interest in her person or her toys.Serena is trained in the basics, including sit, wait, stay, come, bring, drop, catch/fetch (her favorite), and back (move backward). We are improving her recall in new environments and also polishing her leash-walking skills. She is housebroken and crate-trained.She exhibits all the standard GSD traits, including high intelligence, courage, strength, and observance. She is looking for a faithful person to spend time with, a space to call her own with a secure 5-foot fence (minimum), mental stimulation (walks, interactive activities), and lots of affection. We also recommend continuing positive reinforcement training, as it develops a strong human/canine bond.Age: 5 yearsOther dogs: Serena is a powerful and energized player who would require a friend (s) similar in size and play style.Cats: YesKids: 15+Weight: 62 poundsLeash Behavior: Walks fairly well on leashIf you are interested in adopting Serena, please fill out our online application. All High Sierra Animal Rescue dogs are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate shots, micro-chipped, tested for heartworm, given heartworm preventative medication each month, and de-wormed.

Story
This gorgeous girl has completely captured our hearts at HSAR. Emma is a young dog but has such soulful and intelligent eyes. She enjoys the company of other dogs but should be appropriately matched with a dog who is excited to play. She loves to make her people proud and blossoms when she feels comfortable. She knows a handful of commands, is friendly with other dogs, enjoyed meeting our shelter kitty, and would be a fantastic walking buddy. Emma plays ball, happily accepts treats, enjoys cuddling and being with her people, and playing with toys. Emma is a bit of a talker so it would be beneficial for her to go to a home where someone would want to know of others approaching the property, that has always been a trait that I welcomed in a dog but it might not be great for an apartment setting, etc. Emma would make an excellent pal for another playful dog and a loving family. Emma has been a bit hesitant to trust men but can trust with time and patience.
