Story
If you’re looking for a companion Pearl is your girl! Pearl is a sweetheart. She’s smart, caring, and a beautiful dog with a social personality- She’s quick to become your little shadow.  At 2 years old, Pearl is very adaptable, eager to learn and please. She is an extremely affectionate girl who loves giving kisses and hugs. Pearl enjoys going on long walks and playing fetch so she will need to be housed in an active home, preferably with a yard, as one of her other favorite things is laying in the sun with her ball. When you’re ready to relax she is apt to cuddle up with you and will sleep for hours on end. Pearl perfectly house trained and will clearly let you know when it’s time.  Pearl does require a one dog home. Story
Jo came to us from another shelter. It is always sad when an older dog comes to us, because they have to adjust to living in a kennel situation and it is terribly confusing for them. Even though she is older she has a lot of energy, and is extremely strong. We have found she walks much better on a gentle leader than a traditional leash. She needs someone with German Shepherd breed experience and allow her time to open up to you and show you her sweet nature. She is new to us, so there are things still unknown as far as her likes and dislikes, she has not been around children yet and would do best in a home without other dogs. She is currently healing from a skin infection, so her haircut is a bit different, but will grow back and she will be even more beautiful than before. Story
Beautiful Bella! She is one gorgeous German Shepherd. Bella is intelligent, friendly, athletic, but true to her breed, can be protective. She would benefit from having a new owner that has breed experience and will continue to work on her obedience training. Bella needs to have a secure fenced yard, older children, and no chickens or small animals please. Her personality is sweet and she loves attention. We have not introduced her to other dogs yet. Story
This is Chester, 3-year old purebred German Shepherd male. He is neutered and up to date with all shots. Highly trainable with zero health related issues; his hips were x-rayed at a very young age and showed no sign of dysplasia. Chester is quirky and weird. He is often sensitive and shy but has no problems being out in public/social settings with a handler that he trusts and respects. He does not like everyone and he often feels triggered around new people and new settings. On the other side of his introvert character is an intelligent, athletic, and resolutely persistent dog. He enjoys just about everything from playing fetch to exploring hiking trails with the people he loves. Chester needs an experienced handler and/or handlers who can provide upward of 3 hours everyday to care for him and stimulate him mentally/physically. This is a dog for someone who is capable of providing and enforcing rules, routines, and structure consistently on a daily basis.

Story
GERMAN SHEPHERD FANS! Wow! We have the prettiest shepherd for you to adopt! Meet Sadie! She is about two years old and is a petite & dainty 50-pounds. Sadie is a young, energetic dog that always wants to have a good time. Once she knows you, she brings that typical loyal, extremely loving "shepherdy" relationship that is unbreakable and we love that about her. She is a type of dog who loves to follow her leader and builds and builds and builds on that bond. Sadie loves to roll in the wet grass! And belly rubs! She loves belly rubs once she trusts you! She also does this cute lil' hoppity hop when she's on walks. Hot dogs are her favorite snack and are a good way to help her learn that you are a friend. For example, if you are energetic and hyper, Sadie matches energy. When you feel it is time for her to calm down and relax, she will follow your example if you are clearly calm, as well. One of the many great things about Sadie is that she is smart and treat-motivated. A home environment that can provide structure and guidance is exactly where we see her succeeding. With the right shepherd-savvy home, we just know she will blossom. The kennel environment makes her a bit nervous, so we'd love it if you are patient when you come to meet Sadie. We have seen what she develops into once she knows she can trust someone, and trust us when we say that she is very much so worth a slow introduction. We're still watching Sadie's body language during interactions with other shelter dogs and when we have more information we can update then. Sadie would prefer no kitties. She has lived in a home with kiddos about 8ish and older. You are more than welcome to call us at 219-872-4499 to make an appointment to meet Sadie; or you can just stop by during open hours!
