Story
Ghost, affectionately known as Ghosty Whosty, has been with us for over a year. Originally from a shelter where his days were numbered, he is just under 2 years old and currently in a foster home in Binghamton, NY. Ghost is your typical German Shepherd and needs a home with breed experience.  A large fenced yard for daily exercise is essential to keep him busy and stimulated. He is house and crate-trained, super smart, and knows his basics (no, sit, stay, off, paw). He is friendly, good with other dogs, kids, and cats. All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary.  Vet references and a home/family visit are required, and an adoption fee applies.  Transport options are available within our area of operation, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England.  Please note we do not adopt animals into Canada.  Visit www.pmarinc.org for more information, and to fill out an application. All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary. Story
Name: Jessica Day Nickname: Miss DayPreferences: Good with dogs, needs cat test, would do best with patient older kidsReason for being at BCHS: was surrendered with Nick and Schmidt Meet Jessica Day, the human sunflower in dog form! This 7-month-old German Shepherd mix came in with her roommates Nick Miller and Schmidt after their owners could no longer care for them. And just like her *New Girl* namesake, Jess is all heart, a little quirky, and has a bark that’s probably singing its own original theme song. While Nick might be brooding in a corner and Schmidt’s off trying to climb the corporate kibble ladder, Jess is busy spreading joy like confetti. She’s the dog who’d definitely throw a “Pupsgiving” dinner, complete with squeaky toy centerpieces. And if you need someone to dramatically interpret your emotions with an over-the-top head tilt? Jess is your girl. She’s still learning the ropes, but her enthusiasm is unmatched. Whether she’s flouncing on a walk, attempting a playful zoomie, or gazing lovingly into your eyes like you just told her you love brunch, Jess is pure sunshine. She’d thrive in a home with older, dog-savvy kids and possibly even a fellow doggy roommate — though she still needs her *“Ferguson”* moment with a cat test. If your life needs a little more whimsy, a lot more laughter, and a four-legged bestie who believes every day is a reason to celebrate, then Jessica Day is waiting to be your adorkable companion. Adopt Jess and get ready for a lifetime of puppy pep talks, spontaneous dance parties, and endless “Hey, dog! Whatcha doin’?” moments.

Story
Name: Nick MillerNickname: Mick NillerPreferences: Good with dogs, needs cat test, would do best with older patient kidsMeet Nick Miller, the grumpy-yet-lovable roommate you didn’t know you needed! This 7-month-old German Shepherd mix came in with his pals Jessica Day and Schmidt after their owners could no longer care for them. While Jess brings the sunshine and Schmidt demands “youthful energy,” Nick is more of a *`I’m not crying, it’s just allergies`* kind of guy. Nick’s still working on his confidence, and much like his namesake, he’s a bit of a human–er, dog–puzzle. Right now, he’s in his *`stare at the floor and contemplate existence`* era, but with patience, love, and maybe a pep talk from a Schmidt-like motivator, Nick’s true personality will shine. He’s basically one soulful glance away from writing a novel in a dusty loft, and while we can`t confirm if he’s also a secret mixologist, we wouldn`t be surprised if he tries to serve you a questionable “Pepperwood Special” (aka, puppy kisses and drool). Nick would thrive in a calm and patient home, preferably with someone who’s ready to embrace his emotional growth arc. If you’re willing to be the Winston to his Nick — full of unconditional love and occasional chaos — come meet this handsome boy. After all, every Schmidt needs a Nick, and every Nick needs a forever family.

Story
Meet Layla, a sweet and loving 3 year old purebred German shepherd. We adopted Layla as a puppy and raised her in harmony with other pets (dogs/cats) in the same household with no issues. As Layla matured she began to struggle with. nervousness/reactivity, later causing a serious fight with a senior housemate (dog). But has shown zero aggression to humans but would be best in a home with older due to limited exposure to children .Layla Needs to be in a home where she is only pet and receive the love and attention she deserves. We are heartbroken to rehome Layla but have chosen to for the safety and quality of life for her and the other pets in the household. She needs someone willing to work with her on her reactivity and nervousness preferably with someone who has experience with reactive dogs/german shepherd. Layla is house trained, crate trained and knows basic commands such as sit/stay/come/shake and loves long walks and her pool in the summer. She will be dearly missed.

Story
I have been known to shower my favorite people in love! I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! I am a medium to high energy dog that LOVES to play fetch. It is my favorite thing in the whole world, aside from eating treats! Watch me play fetch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJREYwEZ-sk This handsome pup is originally from NYCACC - Queens and was a stray so we don't know much about his history; but I've found a few things Dobby loves - hanging out with his human friends; snacking on treats; and playing fetch! On our walks, I don't even need to call his name - I just stop and look at him, and in a few seconds, he's wiggling and butt-shake-dancing around my legs while enjoying getting his back scratched. He's been just as social and lovey-dovey with other volunteers he's hung out with, too. Though we estimate Dobby to be 4 years old, he has this adorable puppyish look to him, making everything he does ten times cuter - like the way he happily munches away on treats, and how he catches the toy I toss into his kennel and does a little gallop before carrying it to his bed for some playtime. Dobby knows Sit and is already learning more cues like Come, Stay and Spin in the short time he has been in his foster home. Dobby is also very attentive and highly treat-motivated. He currently sleeps in the crate at night and whenever his fosters are not at home. If you're looking for an active, happy dog that will love you unconditionally, Dobby would be the perfect match for you! Dobby is vaccinated, neutered and also microchipped. He is believed to be a German Shepherd mix not only because of his appearance but also because he is so intelligent and loyal to the people he loves.
