Heartworm PositiveMy adoption fee is $300 which covers my annual distemper booster, rabies, and being spayed/neutered and microchipped. The rescue will pay for the injections for HW treatment at Shoreline Vet. in Jacksonville. My adopter would be responsible for the take home meds which average about $200, depending on size, over the 4-month span of treatment. I am heartworm positive, but don't worry, you can still love me! She has been great around adults but has not been tested around children. She and been great around older dogs.  She has been reactive to smaller dogs by barking at them. She gets along good with my younger hyperactive dog 99% of the time but does start to get mouthy with him when he is extremely excited. She is mostly house trained if she gets the opportunity to use the bathroom outside. The first few days in a new environment she did use the bathroom in the house but that has stopped now that she is comfortable.  She eats with no problem and is not food aggressive and Will let me put my hand in her food bowl as she is eating.  She does good on leash and loves to ride in a car. If the car is higher up, she will have to have help getting in. She has not made any attempt to get on the furniture and does not attempt to play with toys.  She does love having a nice comfortable dog bed at night and does well with a routine. She has not been a fan of a crate she prefers to lounge around the house.  She does like to follow people around so wherever you go she will be right there by your side.February 11, 2025, 1:21 pm

Story
My adoption fee is $400 which includes my 1st 2 distemper vaccines (adopter covers 3rd & 4th), rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age at Shoreline Vet Hospital and spayed/neutered and microchipped at approximately 5-8 months old, if not already done. This is Pia-Taz as the kids have been calling her. She is a very short haired snuggle bug who loves attention. She sleeps in her crate and is eager to please. She is great with kids ages 4-12. She is doing well with the other puppies as long as she gets to dine privately.March 15, 2025, 9:41 pm

Story
Nelson is a charming and handsome 5 year old guy who is brimming with love and affection. He may be a little shy at first, but give him some time and he will be your best friend. He is settling into shelter life and hopes his stay will be short.. Nelson is a gentle soul who is full of happiness and is very affectionate. He came in as a stray, but his sweet nature and friendliness make it clear that he was once part of a loving family. Nelson is a loyal companion and would make a great addition to almost any home. He loves going for walks and enjoying the outdoors. He is a healthy guy who is up to date on his shots. If you think you could give this sweet guy the loving home he deserves, come and meet him today! I hope this helps with Nelson's adoption! If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance. The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home. In order to adopt any of our "bully breeds" there is special paper work that will need to be collected and approved prior to the adoption. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure to place our "bully babies" in homes best suited for them.

Story
"Chester is a cute young pup (9 months old) with a lot of love to give! He came into the shelter February 7, 2025 and is now current on shots. He's an affectionate and friendly dog with a playful spirit and an adorable sense of humor. He's always up for fun wether a game of fetch or a nice walk. He's eager to learn. Chester would make a great companion for someone who is looking for a fun and loving dog. He has a lot of zest for life and is always eager to try new things. Although Chester has a lot of love to give he would thrive in a home with owners that are committed to working with him on basic puppy manners/training so he can mature into an amazing adult dog. If you are interested in adopting Chester, please come to the shelter for a meet and greet! We can't wait to see you." Story
Meet Lucky!! Lucky came from Pender Animals Shelter his owner was no longer able to care for him. Lucky is a BIG boy and who ever ends up with him will be lucky themselves because he is the sweetest boy. He is nervous upon meeting him since shelter life is new to him but warms up quick. We were told he is good with cats and dogs unsure about children. Lucky is UTD on his vaccinations, Heartworm negative, microchipped and fixed. Lucky will thrive best having a fenced in yard to run around in. If interested in Lucky please call 910-259-7022 or go to penderhuman.org under the animals tab to submit an adoption application.

Recently had a baby and Odin is having a hard time adjusting! Great with our older daughter, great with cats (just curious). He is vocal, however has never been aggressive. He would do so good with a home with a large backyard. Good with other dogs when introduced slowly. Kennel trained.

Story
Anubis is a 9 year purebred Dutch shepherd. He’s in great health and loves to play. He does really well with female dogs but is too dominate to be around other males. Anubis has had an extensive amount of training and really is a good boy. He is house and kennel trained and an overall great companion. Anubis is being rehomed due to his owner (me) becoming disabled. I can no longer provide the care for him that he needs and deserves despite months of trying. He will come with a kennel, collar, leash, yard lead, toys, food, water dispenser, food bowl, and dog bed.
