You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Merle! Merle made his grand entrance into the shelter on 4/8/2024, and it didn't take long for him to light up the place with his infectious joy! Within just a day, he's become the epitome of happiness, eagerly soaking up treats and attention like a true superstar. And when the camera appears, Merle effortlessly transforms into a model, striking poses that would make any photographer proud! He's certainly a natural in front of the lens – a true camera hound! Merle's charismatic personality is winning over the hearts of all the volunteers, and it's no surprise why! His charm knows no bounds, and he's quickly becoming a favorite among everyone he meets. As we continue to get to know Merle better, we'll be sure to share more about his delightful quirks and endearing traits. Be sure to check back for updates on this lovable pup! During his initial health assessment, Merle received his rabies vaccination and underwent 4DX testing, unfortunately testing positive for Lyme disease. But fret not – Merle is currently undergoing a 30-day course of Doxycycline to tackle the infection head-on. Once he completes his treatment, he'll be all set to receive his DHLPP and Bordetella vaccinations, ensuring he's in the pink of health and ready to embark on new adventures!  He weighs approximately 50 pounds. Story
This cute little guy (Wile E. Coyote) was brought to the HSOV on June 19, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who had found him the previous day on Oakwood Avenue in Marietta Ohio and tried in vain to locate his family. Wile E. Coyote was wearing a collar with a partial tie-out/leash attached but there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on his collar .. And he was not microchipped. And in case you are wondering, there were no sightings of The Road Runner in the vicinity where Wile E. Coyote was found (smile). Wile E. Coyote is a 10-month old male German Shepherd mix. He has a black-and-brown/tan short smooth coat with white highlights on his chest, a long tail, and an adorable face with beautiful brown eyes, a tan mask, and large erect ears. This young man appears to have a happy, outgoing personality. These photos were taken on June 21, 2024 when Wile E. was enjoying some fresh air in one of our covered/shaded outdoor kennels. The afternoon temperatures that day reached 95 degrees which was much too hot/humid for photos in our usual grassy area (which is in direct sunshine), so the better part of valor (and common sense) dictated that we'd settle for a less-than-perfect backdrop in order to be able to post pictures of this little sweetheart. Wile E. Coyote weighs 46 lbs and isn't a very large boy when you see him in person. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Wile E. Coyote will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Update: Wile E. Coyote was neutered on August 5, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Story
Nash is a magnificent 5-1/2 year old male German Shepherd who was surrendered by his tearful owner on August 7, 2024. Nash has a black medium-haired coat with white markings on his chest, a long fluffy tail, and a classic German Shepherd face with beautiful brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and large erect ears. His original told us that Nash is good with children and had shared a home with them all of his life. Nash is good with other dogs, but he is NOT good with cats. Nash has been kept unconfined indoors (both during the day and night), and he enjoyed being outdoors in his yard. Nash is housetrained and is crate-trained. Nash knows several basic commands including "sit, stay, down, and shake". He is afraid of loud noises, thunder, and lightning (and shows his fear by shaking and/or hiding). Nash's only known behavioral issues are aggression toward cats and excessive barking when he is left alone. Nash loves water and loves to swim. He enjoys all types of toys (especially rope toys and balls). Nash was neutered on June 13, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine. These photos of Nash were taken on August 7, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Cadince Bibbee accompanied him for updated pictures. Nash was the perfect gentleman for Cadince and stayed close to her for reassurance. Nash weighed 93 lbs on August 7, 2024 and walked gently on a leash for Cadince. Nash may look familiar to some of our HSOV followers and volunteers since he was adopted from HSOV in June 2023. Nash had been been wonderful in his home but there was a new baby recently, and it was decided that Nash should find another family (though Nash had not shown any negative behavior toward the new arrival).
