Story
Milo is so much fun to spend time with! This handsome fella is about 1.5 years old and very intelligent. He knows his basic commands, is crate and muzzle trained, and he keeps a clean kennel. He loves car rides and is an excellent passenger, enjoys walks and a good game of tug; he is a master at fetch so he'll need a fully fenced yard where he can safely play. Milo also needs to have his mind put to good use, so if you like teaching obedience and tricks, Milo is your guy! He does have an 'off switch', so as eager as he is to get out and play, he is good about returning to his kennel and waiting for his next turn. Milo is very enthusiastic and has a zest for life, but once he's burned off some energy (fetch always does the trick) he is happy to hang out in the yard with you or go off on his own and sniff out the daily news. He's also never said no to a back rub or a tasty treat.Milo was surrendered to UCHS in November of 2023 at just 10 months old. It was evident he was not provided with the structure and training that a puppy requires, resulting in a young dog who had no self-confidence or manners. The staff and volunteers saw Milo's potential and a plan was developed. We implemented a 'nothing in life is free' strategy, and incorporated obedience training with interactive games to help him replace unwanted behaviours with socially acceptable ones. It was now up to Milo to hold up his end of the bargain and he did not disappoint! We are all so proud of what he's accomplished so far and are confident that he can continue to grow with the right support.Milo's new family must be committed to continuing his education and confidence building, including slow/controlled introductions to new experiences, and creating trust with consistent & clear instructions. Milo has made such great strides at the shelter, which can be a stressful environment, so we are confident that he can thrive in a home of his own! ** Milo will do best in a home without cats, dogs, or children. Milo is insecure of other dogs, and while he may be able to make dog friends in the future, he just isn't ready at this time.If you are interested in learning more about Milo, please contact us and we can set up a time for you to meet him and answer your questions.  Milo can be reached at 519.833.2287 or by email at info@uppercredit.com

Story
Hello! My name is George Costanza - but you can call me George! Or Georgie Porgie, as my friends do!I have been patiently waiting for my FUR-ever home since November 2023; I'm so excited for my new family to come along and take me home. I am a super fun boy who loves fetch, long walks and WATER! I would be the best cottage buddy, floating down the river buddy or hiking buddy. Imagine: me and you, in a floatie, lounging on the lake with a cold drink and a yummy snack! My new family should know that when I get excited, I can be jumpy. But I love training and am doing really well - I'm so smart that I know how to sit without even being asked! And I'm learning lots of other cool tricks too, just ask my friends. MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: Teenagers could be ok; no young childrenOTHER DOGS: Potentially, depending on the dog. It doesn't seem like I have had much experience socializing with dogs, so I can be nervous at first. Once I warm up, I can be playful although a bit awkward - silly me! I would be the best match with a very well-socialized and tolerant dog buddy.CATS: No, my energetic nature would likely be too much for a cat.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I need an owner with previous dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Highly recommended, unless you live on a country property.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No apartment buildings SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium-high.HOUSE-TRAINED: Almost! If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the "adopt me" button to apply!

Story
Hello, my name is Valentina!I am a playful, silly girl whose idea of a good time is tossing around a good stuffy toy or going for a long walking adventure. I am very affectionate and snuggly with my humans. I can be nervous of new people, especially men, but warm up nicely with treats and toys. I would be a great agility dog as I'm quite athletic and skilled at jumping through hoops, literally. MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: No young children. Teenagers should be ok.OTHER DOGS: No, I don't seem to enjoy the company of other dogs.CATS: Yes, I did well with the cats in my foster home.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best with someone who has dog experience. FENCED-IN YARD: Highly recommended.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No apartment buildings or homes where I will be in tight spaces with strangers.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the "adopt me" button to apply!

MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: Yes, respectful and mature children.OTHER DOGS: Potentially, I seem to be particular about which dogs I like.CATS: Potentially, with cats experienced with dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: Potentially, if you have some dog experience. Story
Winnie the German Shepherd x Doberman mix! At least those are two of her breeds listed on her DNA results! Cool stuff! But if you are looking for your own Winnie to your Piglet to go on adventures with, look no further! This lovely girl came to us as a stray but was never claimed. No matter, that didn`t stop her from becoming a well-known face around here. When Winnie first arrived, she was a little shy and hesitant around new people and would give a loud bark to let them know she was there! But with socialization and exposure to new faces, Winnie has come out of her shy shell and is ready to make some friends!Winnie is very treat motivated and already knows sit, down, give paw, touch and is even working on roll over! Oh, did I mention, she aced the wobble board training too! She is a very smart girl who will have an easy time with training. She can be a little excited on leash and pull a bit but is doing well with her training and will even stop at doors and wait for them to be opened. With how smart she is, she will stride next to you in no time. Just have those treats handy!Winnie`s ideal home would give her the ability to exercise frequently throughout the day whether that be in a closed backyard with some rounds of fetch, a nice long walk for her to sniff some things out or even some mental stimulation with some puzzle games!Winnie may do well in a house with other dogs but a meet and greet would be ideal. As for kids, Winnie would probably love them but because of her size and how excited she gets, older kids may be best around her!If you`re ready for your next adventure, please contact Toronto Animal Services West Shelter at 416-338-6271 during regular business hours. Meet and greets are being done by appointment only.
