Story
Meet Grilled Cheese! She isn’t related to Tomato Soup, but they have a similar story! Grilled Cheese was a stray that no one came forward for, so she is now seeking a home. She’s about 3 years old and is a German Shepherd Mix. She’s a very dominant dog, so she will need to meet any potential canine friends to see how it goes. She will do better with submissive males that are larger in size. No cats for her. She will do fine with kids!PA Kennel License #1333

Story
Shark Bait is a 2 year old male. He is roughly 40 - 50 lbs. He is a lot of energy so we know not all dogs appreciate that. He can live with a dog savvy cat. Children should be used to exuberant behavior. ** Shark Bait is in our care in Altoona PA. He is available for adoption. Each animal gets microchipped, spayed/neutered and vaccinated. The adoption fee covers those costs. Adoption fees are listed on the application. In person applications take priority over ones mailed or emailed (especially on a popular animal). An application must be filled out in order to visit with any dog or cat. They can be found on our website www.centralpahumane.org under the Adopt A Pet tab or at the shelter. Our animals are posted on Facebook and Petfinder when time permits. A Petfinder inquiry is not an application, and they may not be responded to. We can only accept so many applications for each animal. We do adopt out of state, but we cannot hold the animal. **PA Kennel License #1333.

Story
Bodhi is a 10 month old male. He is roughly 80 lbs. He is not the most socialized guy and tends to be reactive with other dogs. It will take the right fit for him to be comfortable to live with another dog. He can live with cats. If he meets a spicy cat he barks but backs away from it. He is very boisterous so he doesn`t hesitate to jump on people. Children will need to be used to such behavior. He also has a tendency to be destructive with foam dog beds. Bodhi will not be suitable for a family who has never owned a dog before. He needs structure and someone who can manage his behaviors. ** Bodhi is in our care in Altoona PA. He is available for adoption. Each animal gets microchipped, spayed/neutered and vaccinated. The adoption fee covers those costs. Adoption fees are listed on the application. With her happy personality and comical doggy antics, she is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face everyday. Sweet NOVA is potty trained, crate trained, and only chews on her toys. She does well in the car and would make an ideal traveling companion. She would also be a great companion on a restaurant patio for a little happy hour when the weather is nice . If your top 3 attributes in a new friend are smart, good-looking and affectionate, NOVA is the girl for you. She will bring so much light and warmth into her lucky forever family's life. For an adoption application on NOVA click here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Thank you for choosing rescue!!

Story
German Shepherd Husky to be rehomed. Her name is Rose, she’ll be two years in June (22nd I believe) I took her from an Amish farmer. She was his personal dog that his neighbor gave him since his other German shepherd passed away from old age. He rehomed her because she started killing his chickens and he couldn’t get her to stop. I took her mainly as an unofficial foster to make her more adoptable and get her into a more stable environment. I debated keeping her but after approximately 3 months I can’t handle her quirks anymore. I’m not a very Husky tolerant person, but I wanted to see if her German Shepherd genetics outweighed the Husky genetics. She behaves probably like 70% German Shepherd and 30% Husky. I would recommend no young kids, and either no dogs or a dog of similar size that will stand up for themselves.
