Story
Lola was my momma's dog. My mom was diagnosed w/ Stage IV pancreatic cancer April of 2023. At that time a family member took in Lola because my mom was unable to care for the dog & herself. Their intention was to return the dog when my momma recovered. Unfortunately, just 10 weeks after my momma's diagnosed she went to be w/ our heavenly father. The family member is unable to care for Lola anymore. They have 4 kids, multiple animals, busy schedules, & Lola had some behavior issues. She still has puppy in her heart & doesn't realize her size. She nipped at their daughter but did not cause injury. For that reason I answered "no" to the question of good with kids. I can't take Lola in as I have an elderly Yorkie w/ anxiety issues. My mom got her when she was 6 months old. She did not do any obedient classes w/ her and I feel Lola needs to be w/ someone who has patience & can teach her things. All no kill shelters I've called are full. I don't want her at a shelter & be put down.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Location: West Columbia, SC Name: Ginger Age: 5 or 6 years Breed: Coonhound, German Shepherd, Akita Mix - 68 lbs with long legs M/F: F Spayed/Neutered/Shots: Spayed; UTD on rabies & distemper Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: good with everyone she has met so far; haven’t exposed her to cats but doubt it would be an issue Aggression or medical issues?: No aggression; heartworm positive upon arrival and has been through fast-kill. Is on monthly prevention and will need to be retested in a year to verify treatment work did what it was supposed to (extremely high success rate). Reason for rehoming?: owner did not keep her contained and eventually moved away. For 4 years, she walked miles every day for food/water on her daily rotation having back to back litters. It is not simply that the neighbors did not care, she just wasn’t used to being contained and they struggling catching her and keeping her contained. I have had no issues keeping her contained in my back yard, but I do have a hot wire lining my fence and I am nowhere near the area she was wandering for all that time. House/crate trained?: she has only come inside my house a handful of times honestly, she prefers to be a yard dog as that is what she is used to. She has had no accidents when indoors though. Does need a fenced in yard. Potentially additional measures as mentioned above but I have no way of knowing until she is in the new situation/environment to see how she reacts as she never even tried escaping at my house. Additional info/story (personality): She is beyond sweet. No, she isn’t a house dog, but she is a loving dog. Out of the many animal’s I have taken to my vet, she is in their top 2 list of favs out of my group. While she is a yard dog, she walks decently well on a leash (I’m ~125 lbs and the only thing that is difficult is getting her in my car as in she isn’t one to drag me all over). She has been around tons of dogs and people with me with absolutely no issues. Vet had her in perfect health besides the heartworm treatment that we have completed. She is definitely past her puppy days and prefers to lay around instead of playing with the other dogs, but this could also be due to the recent heartworm treatments. I definitely wouldn’t consider her as a guard dog as she is such a people pleaser (she rarely barks - assuming it was learned behavior as she was surviving “on her own” for so long). Please help give her the furever home she has always deserved! Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Adoption application & contract required to ensure good home .

Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Location: Lexington, SC Name: Pluto Age: 1 year (DOB: 4/15/23) Breed: German Shepherd x Coonhound x Mix (DNA Tested) - 55 lbs M/F: M Spayed/Neutered/Shots: UTD on dhlpp, rabies, & bordetella; heartworm negative & UTD on prevention; neutered Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: good with dogs; fine with kids he has met but high energy and probably too much for the littles; can cat test upon request Aggression or medical issues?: free fed and housed with 2 other dogs but can be a bit food protective when I first refill the food but nothing crazy has happened - guard mentality against strangers when contained (acts big and bad through the fence, then I bring him out, and he’s fine - just acts big and scary). Deformed paw from birth that has been vet checked and not deemed to need any further assistance as it doesn’t slow him down or impede him from a normal life. Reason for rehoming?: mom was rescued very pregnant and was born here a couple days later. Was adopted and returned due to new owner having to work double jobs and not being able to be home enough with no assistance and “too loud of a bark”. House/crate trained?: yes Additional info/story (personality): German Shepherd personality - high energy, likes to play and rough house, likes to guard, but is fine once introduced outside containment. Very smart but can of course be a bit stubborn. Is a lovable goofball once settled. Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Adoption application & contract required to ensure good home.

Story
This dog was running a major highway for many weeks and they asked if they trapped him was there anyone that could foster so since it was a highway down the street from me I said I would. Did not realize that 7 weeks later he would still be here. He is too strong from me as I am in my 70's and not well. He loves to go out and play in my large dog area. I have 2 other dogs and 4 inside cats. All are kept in kennels in the house. He seems to love people and he just wants to be loved. He will walk by the cats when taking outside. My 2 dogs are just too jealous of him. I don't know how he would be with children but as I have said he is very strong. If needed I will give the kennel he is in and all toys that he is crazy about. What ever food is left in bag.
