SNOWALL  was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on Saturday 3rd August.   We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.    He does need an active family who will ensure he gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that he needs to live a happy fulfilling life. GEYRAN was saved and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption, before sending her with other saved dogs to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine. They arrived in the US on 28th January 2025 and were transported to the rescue where they are settling in. GEYRAN was cleared by the US canine center for diseases upon entry into the US. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 56 pounds and has an estimated date of birth or 2 February 2021. She is a front leg amputee. Geyran is the  mother of Binky. GEYRAN's (Geeran) Story is that she rescued after her and her pups were shot. Sadly only one of her pups survived and Binky came to the US at the same time as her. Geyran had been a street dog and had her pups on the streets and managed for her family to survive, socializing with some nice locals for about a year before the shooting. She was shot twice in her leg which unfortunately did too much damage and her leg had to be amputated. She is an incredibly happy and social girl who loves everyone she meets. Stray dogs in Oman are referred to as "Wadi Dogs" and are a mix of the popular sighthound breeds, specifically thought to be descendents of the majestic Saluki and other smaller breeds, many resembling whippets with their small agile frames. If not saved these dogs are often shot or brutally ran over and left for dead. TOBY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and  arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Friday, 14th February. TOBY is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, and on 12 February weighed 62.40 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of December 2022.  We do not know what the breed is, we expect families to decide looking at any pictures and video's provide and decide if the breed is a good fit for their family.   The shelter volunteer stated as I approached the dog he came up to me with his tail wagging and happy, he accepted petting and allowed me to put a loop lead on him. He walked nicely with me to the van and was ok when I picked him up into the van. Very sweet boy.   (Rescue comments - it is important to take into account when reading these comments that these dogs are in a strange environment with a lot of dogs, and they are learning about each other in a very small space of time, it is high stimulation environment, also often the first time they have had exercise with other dogs.  Comments are from volunteers, not trainers or behavio rists). KODA was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and  arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Friday, 14th February. We post our available dogs in states across the east coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes to find perfect homes and families. KODA is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on flea/tick prevention and was given the 12 month pro-heart heartworm prevention injection in February 2025. He is microchipped and on 12 February weighed 54.40 pounds. He has an estimated date of birth of December 2022.  We do not know what the breed is, we expect families to decide looking at any pictures and video's provide and decide if the breed is a good fit for their family. Koda's adoption fee has been reduced in hopes to find his forever home as he is not doing great in the kennel environment, he gets over-stimulated which doesn't help as he isn't getting the mental stimulation or exercise that he needs. Koda is an incredibly affectionate boy, he is very responsive, knows sit and possibly other commands. Koda needs a family that understand the breeds needs and has the active lifestyle that he needs. We are looking for a family that understand that dogs need time to decompress and figure out what has happened to them the past several months, who these new people are and to learn the new rules, boundaries and expectations of their new families. He takes treats gently, rode great on the transport up from the airport up to the rescue and uses the dog door with no problems. He is a dog that definitely needs mental stimulation and training so he knows exactly what is expected of him. When he first arrived at the rescue, he would try and bolt out of the gate, jump up when I was trying to give him his food - after just a few days of correction he has learned, he still gets excited but he is in a kennel environment and craving attention. The shelter volunteer stated that Koda began to wag his tail when he saw them in front of his kennel. He took treats from them still wagging his tail. His eyes were friendly and his body was relaxed. He had a very friendly demeanor. A volunteer took him to a play group and said he was quick to join play with others and very pushy and obnoxious with his energy towards others. Would run and roughhouse with others that can keep up with his energy. Needed to be corrected due to getting too into play and being too pushy and excited with others at times.   (Rescue comments - it is important to take into account when reading these comments that these dogs are in a strange environment with a lot of dogs, and they are learning about each other in a very small space of time, it is high stimulation environment, also often the first time they have had exercise with other dogs. The shelter volunteer state that he did well and walked on the leash, he is a sweetheart, met the volunteer at the front of the kennels and rolled over for belly rubs and then leaned as hard as he could into the kennel gate for pets. Entering the kennel he proceed with the same behavior. Absolute love. When coming out of the yard he went straight over to the other dogs greeting them and afterwards he would start running but would stop and mingle with the dogs and after he would have some rough play but sometimes be too pushy and ignore corrections from other dogs. Beau is super chill. He just wants attention, cuddles, and belly rubs. He will paw at you for more attention when you stop. He is super sweet. He was originally found as a stray and was pulled from the BARC Houston Redlist.

Smokey is living with a foster that has other doggies, cats and kids. He is sweet loving and playful. Transportation is available for approved out of state adopters.

HIbiscus is an absolute sweetheart. Very loving! She is dog and people friendly. Transportation is available for approved out of state adopters.

Beautiful DeeDee has been at the rescue since 24 September 2024 and although she has had some families interested in her, they really didn't have the lifestyle or understanding for what she needs. DeeDee was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas with her sister Dolly who is also still here at the rescue, but is living in the house as I felt it best to separate them to get them used to not being together. At the shelter both girls were terrified of being in a strange, loud, busy unknown environment and when they first arrived at the rescue they was equally as scared, which is totally understandable. After a few weeks their confidence grew as they felt safe and made friends with the other dogs to where now at the rescue they play well with the other dogs, they are relaxed and happy. DeeDee did have a meet and greet about a month ago and taking her out of her environment with the other dogs and to the top of the drive where she had not been and was alone, she again became very scared. I do want to say she has NEVER been aggressive in any way shape or form, she is just scared in new environments and situations. This is not a negative and should be understood, she has most likely never been on her own, not had a great start to life ending up in a high kill shelter at a year old with her sister, but by watching the videos on her page on the rescue website and looking through the photo's you can clearly see that when she is comfortable and feels safe she is a happy confident girl - she just needs a family who understands this and will go slow with her and let her adjust at her pace. At the rescue as mentioned she is a confident girl, she will run up to the gate and bark at cars coming down the drive, she can be vocal when people come to volunteer, however she is in a kennel environment and so all the dogs bark when people come in - she can be a little mouthy with people, which should be expected from the breed and is easy to work on, she doesn't do it all the time. She is extremely affectionate and craves for love and attention and would be a great family dog, as long as she is given that time to understand she is in a safe place with a loving family. I have not had around small children but personally would have no concerns as long as the children respect her space and do not do anything to make her feel unsafe or threatened, which is standard for all dogs. I do not know how she would be around cats, I am sure she would be curious and it is important for families to ensure that cats have a safe place they can get to and of course slow, controlled introductions. Then of course this sweet girl needs a family that understands the breed in that she needs a structured active life, with lots of mental stimulation and challenges as the physical exercise. She would be great with another dog in the family and has never had any issues with the dogs she lives with here at the rescue, which includes being around 3 month old puppies. Overall she is an incredibly sweet, gentle affectionate girl who needs a loving, understanding active family that will give her time to adjust and trust so that this beautiful, active personality can come back out. The shelter noted the following on 2 September about both girls who were taken to the play group individually: Not feeling quite confident on the leash yet, was carried to the yard. She wasn't feeling confident enough to join in with the others at this time. She was standoffish and could feel overwhelmed at times.   Kennel visit - 5 September Stayed on bed and was licking my hands but when I went to pet her she kept flinching and moving her head. Got off the bed and continued to lick hands but still flinched when tried to pet her.
