Story
Meet Dax! This playful buddy is looking for a new and loving home to call his own! He loves to run and play. Dax is very high energy and quite the smarty pants. He adores swimming and being on boats. He is crate and house trained but loves to spend most of his time outside. He loves all people and is great with kids, but would prefer to be the only fur baby in the house. He walks very well on leash as long as he is not distracted by other animals and listens off leash as well in a safe/proper environment. If you are interested in Dax, please contact Lauren at (434) 382-8351 or email bocaj999@yahoo.com.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Energetic and wanting to please: Apollo!  He is more than ready to find a home. He plays hard with other dogs, so just needs some guidance when it comes to hanging out with multiple other dogs during playtime. He does great with the foster dogs around him at his foster home, and enjoys playing with one of the female canine companions who is about the same age, Serena.  Apollo can scale a 6 foot fence if he is confined to a small dog lot, but does well in a yard where a taller fence shows him his boundaries.  He is housetrained, and cratetrained! He loves playing with toys, and can run for hours. He does have prey-drive around smaller animals—not unusual with energetic shepherds—and we don’t recommend a home with cats or poultry. He is non-reactive to livestock and was fine with the horse that was housed in the pasture next to him recently. if you’re looking for a dog with energy, and a happy attentive attitude with intelligence and ability, look no further: Apollo needs you! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 25, 2025, 7:51 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. We have not met Dex, but his family wants to find him a different home, and asked us to help. Here is what they say: His name is Dax. He is full of energy and loves to run. He does currently live with 3 other dogs but has major aggression towards any new animals. It is hard to take him in public and to the park due to his aggression. He is mainly German shepherd and rottweiler but has some Doberman and wolfdog mixed in. He has attacked stray cats and dogs that have come into our yard but has never shown aggression to any people. He is very energetic but is very easy with kids of all ages and elderly people." If you are seeking a dog to be your best friend, and are willing to keep him safe while he learns boundaries, perhaps this handsome boy would be a good match. Do note that he has high prey drive, and wants to protect you from whatever enters the yard. A neuter would help him immensely as well. Apply and we will send to his family for consideration.    PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. Story
Annie is a German Shepherd/Hound mix. She one of six left behind from a large litter. She was owner surrendered to BHS due to the owner could not find homes for all the puppies. She was born June 18, 2024. She has a beautiful dark black and brown coat. As she grows she is looking more Shepherd than Hound. She has been with her siblings since birth and is now ready to have a family of her own. When out in the open yard she is very attentive to her foster mom. She comes when called and does not wander far. She is smart and is eager to learn. She is young, and does need to get plenty of exercise. She would do well with children that understand getting puppy jumps and nibbles. She gets along with other dogs. She has not been around cats but yet she is young enough to be trained to enjoy a cat's company. If you are looking to add a pup growing to large size and would become your best friend, Annie is the one for you. She has been dewormed, microchipped, on preventive for flea/tick, and has received the Distemper-Parvo combination vaccine. For more information, go to https://www.bhsva.org/adoptables to fill out an adoption application.
