Story
Temporarily caring for a friend's dogs. My friend has two dogs, one German Shepherd and one mix breed German shorthair pointer Raya. Unfortunately, the two dogs couldn't get along despite trying various methods, so we had to temporarily take Raya in. We are now looking for a loving person to give Raya a forever home. Brown mix-breed German Shorthaired Pointer, over three years old, neutered, microchipped, healthy, and vaccinated. She may look fierce but is actually very friendly, does not bite, is timid, and is also a foodie. We tried to taking her to the beach to play, but she's extremely afraid of it. I tie her leash to a post to keep her from running around when I bathe her. She only goes to the bathroom outside, is crate trained, and sleeps in her crate at night.

Story
Meet our pint-sized dynamo Gideon, at 7 years young he is the master of finding snug spots, even if it means claiming the tiniest corner of the room. You’ll often catch him cozying up in armchairs, making himself at home in the most adorable fashion and he is a true cuddle bug. Despite the occasional spillage, in true GSP fashion, from his water bowl, he’s tidy for a furry friend. Now, onto his latest escapade – the spin! Picture this: he’s giving it his all, twirling around with enthusiasm, mastering the art of the spin about half the time. It’s a work in progress, but oh-so-endearing to witness his determination. But wait, there’s more! Gideon is making strides in independence, willingly trotting into his crate, even with his trusted human out of sight. He also lets his human know when it’s time to head outside for his potty break. When it comes to outdoor adventures, he’s becoming quite the explorer. His recall is improving by leaps and bounds, and he’s gaining confidence in the backyard, especially with a watchful eye nearby. With each passing day, his outdoor excursions are extending, from a mere five minutes to a solid half-hour of supervised playtime. Yet, amidst all these triumphs, one thing remains unchanged – his vocal nature. This little chatterbox has a lot to say and isn’t shy about letting everyone know. But hey, who can blame him for wanting to share his thoughts with the world? If Gideon seems like he could fit into your life and family, please apply to adopt him today! He’s ready to make you very happy! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Gideon's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Stix is here to wag his tail straight into your heart! He is a 10-month-old bursting with energy and excitement for life! If you’re into long walks filled with exploration and laughter, then you are a paw-some match. Whenever he sees other dogs, he gets super excited because he believes every furry friend is a potential playmate! He is crate-trained and absolutely adores car rides. There’s something about sticking his head out the window and feeling the wind on his fur that makes him feel like the luckiest pup in the world. He also is not shy about showing his affection – cuddle sessions are his specialty! He does need a little extra guidance in the potty department and honing his general learning skills. He is a puppy at heart, eager to learn and grow alongside a loving forever home. He thrives best in a home where he can be the center of attention, so no other dogs, please. And while we don’t know how much of a big fan of kids he will be, we think he would do best in a home with teens and above who can keep up with his boundless energy. So, what do you say? Are you ready to embark on the greatest adventure of all – the journey of companionship and unconditional love with STIX by your side? If so, let’s schedule a meet-and-greet and see if we’re a perfect match! Looking forward to the possibility of becoming your forever furry friend. Story
This big boy is friendly and full of love. Kev is always happy to see and meet new people, making friends easily. His affection and willingness to listen mean he’s by your side (sometimes even leaning or laying on you) whenever given the chance! Kev has the energy you would expect of a young GSP and will benefit from lots of running and exercise to help him burn off the energy and learn to settle. He’s been known to jump or scale a fence, so secure fencing is crucial. He is active and at times doesn’t realize his size. Once he’s settled, he’s quiet and gentle. It’s the ideal time to perfect the cues he’s learning like down, stay, and shake. Kev is looking for a home that will continue his training and exercise him well. He’ll benefit from structure and a regular routine. If you have other dogs in the home, let’s talk more about how Kev can best integrate with your crew. He is unaware of dog social cues and his play style (combined with his size) can be a bit much for some dogs! Kev is available on a foster-to-adopt basis so we can support you during the transition to your home. About Me Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Kev's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Ruger is a sweet and affectionate dog who will quickly become your loyal companion. He takes treats gently and is very food-motivated. He loves to lean on you for affection, bonds quickly, and eagerly awaits your return. Ruger is housetrained and crate-trained. He’s learning cues like Sit, Heel, Down, Stay, Wait, Off, Leave it, Drop it, Touch, and not jumping up. He’s a smart pup who responds well to training with treats and positive reinforcement. Ruger is an active dog who loves to hunt lizards, chase squirrels, and chew on his toys, especially his favorite stuffed squeaky squirrel. He enjoys walks and generally has good leash manners, although he can be a bit excitable if he spots a deer or cat. He’s learning not to jump up on people in enthusiastic greetings! He is nearly done with his veterinary care – he has recovered from kennel cough, his coat is looking good, his skin is improving after flea bites and will be checked at his next vet visit, he still has a bit of sensitivity in one ear that is being evaluated. Ruger is a confident and curious dog who likes to check out everything in his environment. He might have been an outside dog previously, as he enjoys spending time outdoors, lying in the shade, and exploring the yard. Ruger loves car rides and will happily join you for any adventure. He’ll thrive in an active home with someone who enjoys engaging with their dog – a family that can provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. If you’re looking for a loyal, active, and loving buddy, Ruger could be the perfect addition to your home!
