Story
Strawberry frosted (aka Bubba, Bubs, Babygirl, Princess) is a total sweetheart - intiitally skeptical of us upon pickup, she has quickly warmed to us and knows her way around. Although she needs lots of reassurance and encouragement, as she gains confidence, she is venturing more around the neighborhood. She will let you pick her up, brush her teeth, and give her a bath - she is sweet and gentle and acts like a little princess when she is in a comfortable space. She is still warming up to the noises and sounds of the city, but has no issues with the cold and has been loving the snow! Personality & Characteristics: Curious, sweet, goofy - she's the ultimate chiller and is learning confidence to interact with the world around her!She has had no issues with any dogs, cats, or kids we've come across, but does get hyperfixtated when a dog is far away and she can't investigate! A quick treat will keep her walking. She is crate and house trained, but has had a few accidents when settling into her new home due to nerves. 3 Keywords for your pup: Sweet, gentle, curiousEnergy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 4- Strawberry frosted is VERY chill for a pointer dog - she has no problem sitting at home while we WFH and spends all night in her crate. She does have a few bursts of energy, but we're working to encourage her to be more active as they are few and far between! She loves naps and curling up on the hardwood.Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: VERY quiet - we're trying to encourage her to use her voice at least once! We pay attention to her behavior cues as she does not have verbal onesWalking Manners: Strawberry frosted goes where she wants to go, which usually isn't very far! She is still warming up to the outdoors and noises of city life, but when she gets moving, she goes pretty quick! She is very nervous around cars and outside but has been making signifcant progress.Appetite: Is uninteresting in food when she is nervous or stressed, but eats her full bowl twice daily when she is at home and comfortableDoes the following: She does not get car sick, but is definitely nervous in new spaces. She is great with new people and the vaccuum, but the outside has been very scary for her. We've left her alone and uncrated for short stretches and she does great. Favorite Things: Peanut butter, her rope toys, nappingCommands/Tricks: Not there yet! But she's very smart and we're learning to fetch
ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at WaldosRescue.org and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog. We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.
Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States
