Story
Duke for AAP, please. 🏞 Duke🐾 Say hello to Duke, a handsome, high-energy German Shorthaired Pointer with a zest for life and a heart full of love. This 1-year-old pup is ready to find his forever family who will embrace his playful personality and active lifestyle! Why You’ll Love Duke 🐾Dog & Kid Friendly: Duke gets along great with other dogs and adores kids. He’s currently living with toddlers (ages 3 and 4) and is wonderfully gentle, though he sometimes forgets his size and tries to be a lapdog. 🐾Playful Spirit: Toys are Duke’s passion—he loves pulling them all out and playing fetch (we’re still working on the “return” part 😉). 🐾Quick Learner: This smart, food-motivated boy has already mastered “sit,” “stay,” and “kennel.” He’s working hard on leash manners and picking things up quickly. What Duke Needs 🐾Active Lifestyle: Duke’s high energy makes him a great fit for an active family who loves outdoor adventures or daily runs. 🐾Fenced Yard or Adventures: He thrives in a space where he can burn off energy safely or with a family who will take him out exploring. 🐾Training & Patience: Duke is working on his manners and will need a family dedicated to continuing his training. He’s doing great so far! 🐾Crate Safety: Duke absolutely must be crated when left alone, as he’s a pro at escaping wire kennels. Once in a sturdy crate, he’s perfectly content, accident-free, and sleeps peacefully at night. Quirks to Know 🐾Duke loves food—so much so that he’s quick to snag it if it’s within reach. He’s learning boundaries but will need a watchful eye around snacks. Duke is the ultimate adventure companion with a heart of gold. If you’re ready for a loyal, energetic, and loving pup who will keep up with your active lifestyle, Duke is waiting for you! Story
Gem is a four-year-old German Shorthair Pointer (GSP) with a zest for life and a loving nature. Like most GSPs, she’s full of energy and thrives in a home that can keep up with her active lifestyle. Whether it’s hiking, running, or exploring the great outdoors, Gem is ready to be your adventure buddy. After a day of activity, she loves nothing more than to settle down for some quality snuggle time with her favorite people. Her favorite thing, beyond anything else, is to be right by her person's side. Gem is well-mannered and has a solid foundation of basic training. She’s potty trained, walks well on a leash, and has reliable recall skills, making her a joy to take on outings. However, her hunting breed instincts are strong, and she has a high prey drive, so she requires a secure, tall, physically fenced yard (no electric fences or tie outs) to safely burn off her energy. Gem’s ideal home is a single-family home with plenty of space and a secure yard, as she needs room to run and play. She is not a good fit for renters or homes with restrictions on outdoor space. Due to her desire to chase, Gem is also not suitable for a home with cats or small animals. She lives in a foster home with six other dogs and gets along well with them, so she would love another canine companion, but would also do well as an only dog! While Gem is friendly and affectionate, she can get nervous in certain situations. For this reason, she would do best in a home with children aged 15 or older who can understand and respect her boundaries. She’s crate-trained and feels comfortable being crated when her family isn’t home, which helps her feel safe and secure. Gem is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, so she’s ready to transition smoothly into her new home. Her ideal family will not only appreciate her energetic and playful nature but also provide the structure and understanding she needs. If you’re looking for a loyal, active companion and are willing to travel to Reading, PA, to meet her, Gem could be the perfect fit!
