Story
Meet Lloyd – Your Next Adventure Buddy! Lloyd is a charming 4-year-old pup who will melt your heart with his big smile and snuggly personality. Whether you’re reading on the couch, watching TV, or simply relaxing on the floor, Lloyd will be right there, soaking up the love and offering plenty of affection. When he’s not snuggled up with you, he’s content curling up on his bed nearby. His friendly demeanor shines when meeting new people, making him a delightful companion to have around. Lloyd is both crate-trained and house-trained, settling easily into a daily routine. He’s also well-mannered when gearing up for a walk, standing or sitting patiently while his leash and harness are secured. He’s active and curious, always ready to explore, play, and bring joy into your life. The Perfect Match: What Lloyd Needs in a Forever HomeLloyd is best suited for an active family who can provide him with plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and a safe, secure yard. He has a bit of a daredevil streak—jumping fences and sneaking out open doors are part of his repertoire—so a tall, sturdy fence and vigilant supervision are a must. A family with experience in dog training or patience for his quirks (like counter surfing and his bird-chasing instincts) will find him a rewarding and loyal companion. Lloyd’s Daily Routine and PersonalityLloyd thrives on activity. He currently enjoys 1–2 daily walks at a moderate pace, plus backyard playtime with frisbees and toys, and wrestling sessions with his foster sibling. Now that he’s settling in, he could use even more exercise and would be a great partner for jogging or longer walks. Indoors, Lloyd loves to chew on toys, enjoy puzzle games, or simply sunbathe and relax. Lloyd’s personality is a mix of curiosity and enthusiasm. While he’s focused and serious on walks—particularly when birds are in view—he’s otherwise playful and adaptable. He’s learning basic cues like “off,” “drop,” and “crate,” and he’s making progress with cues like “sit” and “wait.” With chicken or cheese as motivation, Lloyd’s eagerness to learn shines through. Social DynamicsLloyd gets along well with people and has made strides in building relationships with other dogs. He thrives with slow introductions, requiring a bit of patience and time to warm up to canine companions. Once he’s comfortable, he’s playful and happy. Things to Know About Lloyd Quirks: Lloyd has a few habits that make him unique! He’s a counter surfer, so kitchen access is currently restricted, and he’s known to jump on the couch or his crate to explore his surroundings. He’s learning “off” and responding well to boundaries. Bird Drive: Lloyd is captivated by birds and will likely need supervision outdoors to ensure he doesn’t give chase. Jumping: While he rarely jumps on people, when he does, it’s with enthusiasm—so potential adopters should be ready for his exuberance! Barking: Lloyd occasionally barks at unfamiliar noises or movements but settles down quickly once reassured. He also has a curious response to whistling, which can momentarily excite or startle him. Why You’ll Love LloydLloyd is a true companion dog. He loves people and thrives on connection, whether it’s through snuggles, playtime, or simply hanging out in the same room. He’s an adaptable boy who has settled into his foster home beautifully and will undoubtedly bring joy, laughter, and love to his forever family. If you’re ready for an adventurous, affectionate, and slightly mischievous pup, Lloyd might just be your perfect match. Story
Maisie is now available for adoption! Maisie is a 4-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This spunky, smart girl is a quick learner and an excellent communicator—she’s always ready to let you know what she needs (usually more snuggles or treats). Maisie is also a tripod, but don’t let that fool you! She’s gaining strength every day and doesn’t let anything slow her down. She’s been potty-trained since 10 weeks old (impressive, right?) and is also crate-trained. She’s already learning basic cues like sit, down, and spin, and she even has a special trick—waiting patiently in her spot while her food is prepared! Since Maisie is still teething, she loves anything she can chew, so having plenty of toys on hand is a must. She’ll thrive in a loving home that continues her training and gives her lots of love and patience as she grows into the amazing pup she’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a resilient, intelligent, and affectionate companion, Maisie might just be your perfect match! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Maisie's been up to, check out her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs.March 15, 2025, 11:58 pm
