Story
Maverick is around 5 years old and a true outdoor companion. He has a hunting background. He would make a great fit for the outdoorsmen. The reason we are looking to rehome him is, he can not be left alone inside and has a hard time when kenneled. He likes to tear up furniture and find snacks in the pantry. Maverick also requires soft canned food due to an old injury to the throat. Maverick also has seasonal allergies and has to be closely monitored or will have coughing and light vomiting spells. Maverick is very protective of our home and is a hard lover. We absolutely hate to rehome him, but we can no longer give him the attention he requires.

Story
If Archie could talk, he would tell us his sad story. Found as a stray, this handsome German Shorthaired Pointer ended up at Oldham County Animal Control extremely emaciated. Emaciated to the point that his internal organs were shutting down. Emaciated to the point that he had eaten rocks, as many starving dogs do just to fill their stomachs. Our concern became getting him healthy again. Giving him nourishment and getting him up to a good weight was a slow process. Dogs who have been starved cannot be flooded with food. Archie, who now weighs over 55 pounds, stayed at our office under the attentive care of our Dog Team volunteers until he was strong enough to go into training in Camp K-9 at the Kentucky State Reformayory. Now at about 4 years old, he is healthy and thriving, and a beautiful specimen of a GSP.
