Story
Ziggy comes into HUNAH as a stray from Idaho. He appears to be some sort of terrier mix, possibly partly Idaho Shag. He is about 50 lb and about 1 year old. Ziggy loves playing with other dogs, is respectful of cats, ignores livestock, and has no real interest in chasing small animals. He'll escort you nicely by your side on walks, kiss your hand, look adoringly in your eyes, listens well, and doesn't talk too much. All he really wants is to be with his people. Ziggy learns quickly and knows basic commands, does well on leash and off leash, and is house and crate trained. Even though he is fairly low drive, he will require daily exercise but will settle down and nap. He does bark and cry a bit when left alone, but he is learning to be more independent and has already improved in this regard. Given that he was left at a shelter, he may have some fear of abandonment. Because his history with children is unknown, any children in the household should meet him first to see how they get along. Though he knows he should sit when greeting people and is generally gentle, he does get excited and jump up (though usually not on). Like many dogs, he just needs a little more work on this. As a general rule of thumb, dogs with no known exposure to young kids are recommended for households with kids over 6. Ziggy is being fostered in Aurora, Oregon.
