Story
Hey there! My name is Fergus, and I’m a 9-week-old German Wirehaired Pointer/Lab mix with a heart as big as my paws (which, by the way, are huge—get ready for a big boy!).Let’s get the basics out of the way: I’m cute (obviously), smart (already working on my house and potty manners), and I have a deep, passionate love for carrying my stuffed toys everywhere like a tiny, fluffy security guard. Seriously, no stuffie shall be left behind.I’m a little shy at first, but if you have some tasty snacks and a little patience, I’ll be your best friend in no time. I get along great with other puppies and chill big dogs, but the really wild ones? They’re kinda scary right now. Don’t worry, though—I’m growing fast, and soon I’ll be the big dog on the block!I’m looking for a forever home with someone who appreciates my sensitive side, my independent streak, and my commitment to toy transportation. If you’re looking for a puppy who’s equal parts snuggle-bug, smarty-paws, and future gentle giant, I just might be your guy!Swipe right—uh, I mean, apply to adopt me today! I am currently in Texas, but can travel to you. My adoption fee is $195 local and $395 out of state to include transport. You can apply for me at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SGDR/Dog

These pups are in Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas too!

Story
TJ is 6 years young and he is a sweet, shy, sensitive Velcro boy. He has been living with a female fur-sister. They enjoy running in the yard together but when it comes to inside snuggle times with Dad, TJ wants his time and space for this.  His first owner was a hunter who passed away. Then he went to another hunting kennel where it was determined that TJ is NOT a hunter and they contacted rescue to find him a non-hunting home as a pet/family member.  TJ is looking for a calmer, quiet home. Another active dog for him to run with would be ideal and would help him settle into a new home. He’s never been an only dog so he would want a person that is mostly home if you don’t have another dog. Young children make him nervous so definitely a quieter home without kids. He is affectionate and appreciates cuddles and physical assurances that everything is ok.  TJ needs a home with a secure physically fenced yard that is large enough and interesting for him to run/work/explore/play with another active dog buddy. We’ve always had him in 6 foot privacy fencing and we aren’t sure how he would do in shorter fencing. His foster Dad says “he is lightning fast” and needs a home where doors and gates are kept closed and secure. He has a typical prey drive for an field ES and has never lived with cats so we do not expect him to be safe with cats.   TJ has adapted to being a house dog well. He is eager to learn, wants to please and is treat motivated. Are you the home that TJ is waiting for?      November 2, 2024, 12:58 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Max is a three year old tri-color neutered male ES.  He belonged to one owner since he was an 8 week old puppy.  He mostly lived outside and liked to go on adventures with his female littermate.  She was the likely ringleader in the breakouts from the fence and led the pair on jaunts around the neighborhood.  Because of his love of escaping he’ll need a home with a secure yard and 6 foot + no climb fencing. Max is a pretty low key guy who is happy outside or inside.  He does not seem to have a significant drive to hunt and seems to prefer sunbathing in the yard and curling up on the sofa.   Max is in a foster home with other Setter boys and gets along well with them.  He has also met a much smaller female dog that he likes and once he got over his incredulity at his size, he also likes a very large Bernese mix.  Max has not been tested with cats, but does not seem to have a massive prey drive.   Max is a bit of a resource guarder with his people and while he is getting attention curled up on the sofa, he warns other dogs to stay away.  He does not seem to do this outside or when he is in his crate.  He is fed in his crate so there is no conflict with his foster siblings.  Max is not a big barker but he does like to get up and go outside in the morning, then come in for breakfast soon after.  He will bark in his crate until he gets what he wants in the mornings.  He likes his routines.   Max is fairly gentle on leash though he gets most of his exercise in the backyard with foster siblings, not on regular walks.  He would enjoy regular walks with his person.  He also loves to ride in the car and jumps right in and settles in for the ride.  Max is working on his house training and is not 100% on providing cues to go outside yet but he’s working on it.  The yard at his foster home has a 6 foot stockade fence and he has never tried to dig or climb out.   Max is on the small side even for a field setter and currently weighs 42 pounds.  He has a very sweet and gentle nature and is loved by anyone that meets him. He is up to date on all vaccinations and is microchipped. Max is in a foster home in OKC, Ok.     November 2, 2024, 12:58 pm

Good with kids,
Story
Hey ya’ll my name is Nelson and I’m currently hanging out with my foster buddy, Willie. I’m only three years old but life hasn’t been kind to me. Can’t really say how I spent my early years, but the kind person who contacted rescue took me in when my previous owner moved and left me. The Good Sam said I was a good dog but he was also moving and needed to find me a forever home. I do require a 6′ fence because I cleared his 4.5′ fence easily when I saw something I felt needed to be investigated. I am a typical field English Setter so I will bolt if doors or gates are left open.  I am neutered and fully vaccinated. I am mostly house trained and crate trained too. I like to run around in the yard, but prefer my person stay outside with me. I would really like a home with another friendly dog or a person who is retired or works from home. I am looking for someone who will love me forever and give me the time I need to settle in and feel secure in my home. All this insecurity in my first three years has given me some anxiety which is typical and manageable for an ES in the right home. I do love snuggles, so furniture privileges are a must. Do you need a friend for life like I do? If so please contact SWESR.  April 4, 2025, 7:03 am
