Story
My name is CARLY (SRC#2197) and I am being fostered along with my sister, SASHA (SRC#2198) in Roanoke, VA by a personal trainer who is very familiar with our breed.  Sasha and I are Giant Schnauzer females whose birthdate is April 12, 2022.  We are now approximately 2  and 1/2 years old  and  are a medium weight (exact weight will be provided soon).  The beginning of our lives was an absolute dream, and we were spoiled with love and affection beyond belief!  Our beloved human Daddy had never had a Giant Schnauzer companion before; yet he researched the breed, and decided to adopt 2 Giant puppies at the same time.  He was retired and wanted something to keep his life active!  Well with both of us, he got exactly what he desired!  He raised us from tiny pups and was amazed at how quickly we grew.  When he had to travel, we were boarded at a very posh kennel that most people do not have it so comfy!  Unfortunately our lives suddenly became very difficult because our beloved human Dad died suddenly! We mourned his passing so desperately because he was everything to us and vice versa.  His extended family got together and arranged for us to come to SRC.   My first foster home gave  my sister and me fantastic care  still we missed our Dad!  Then SRC arranged for me to go to a great foster home in Virginia which had other dogs and lots for time to spend loving on us!  We became very happy.      My foster mom says that I am the perfect Giant -- loving and obedient.  Of course, my sister, Sasha has a lot of great qualities also; however, she does tend to be less loving initially and she tends to resource guard against the other dogs in this foster home.  The best placement will be for us to go to a home where there are no other dogs, or at least one that I can accept readily.  A meet and greet would be required.  We MUST be placed together!  It would be heartbreaking to separate us at this point. Anyway we are DOUBLE the pleasure! It is such a joy to watch the way we get along with one another! We are micro-chipped, have all our vaccinations, are both spayed and although our original Dad never did teach us to walk on a leash, our current foster mom has worked with us on a lot of training.   We are crate trained and house broken, and very affectionate.   If you do not have experience with this breed, please do NOT apply to adopt me.  Only adoptive parents with Giant Schnauzer experience will be considered for my adoption.    (SRC#2197) CARLY'S & (SRC#2198) SASH'S STORY  CARLY  & SASHA with these unique identification consecutive numbers: (SRC#2197) & (SRC#2198) came into SRC's custody and care on April 10, 2024 .   Her beloved human Father had passed away suddenly and no one in the extended family was able to keep either Carly (SRC#2197) or her sister, Sasha (SRC#2198).  They must be adopted together.   Once ready   for adoption they   will be heart-worm  tested, de-wormed, vaccinations up to date, spayed, micro-chipped, examined fully by a vet and any necessary medical issues found by this vet will have been addressed. It is anticipated that this dog will be released for adoption by the same date as the completion of the Evaluation. The date of release is left to the discretion of the SRC Core Team.   THESE GIANTS ARE BEING FOSTERED IN  ROANOKE, VIRGINIA  AND YOU SHOULD BE WILLING TO DRIVE TO THAT LOCATION IN ORDER TO PICK THE GIRLS UP THERE WHEN SHE AND HER SISTER ARE ADOPTED . Tax-deductible donation requested at time of adoption for these Giants is $1200 total for both Carly and her sister, Sasha.  PLEASE READ PRIOR TO APPLYING When ready for adoption, this canine will  have been evaluated for at least two weeks by loving SRC foster parents who will be able to give the adoptive parents  their opinion about the demeanor of the family companion  prior adoptive parent   finalizing   their adoption of this canine.  All SRC volunteers strive to do this for the well-being of their rescued canine and to assure a successful adoption. It is our worthy mission to assure that each canine rescued by SRC is placed in a loving, stable and permanent home whose family members will treat as a beloved member of their immediate family. We are prepared to assure that our rescued dogs are in great homes or we will reclaim them if necessary. SRC’s dogs are  placed in foster homes throughout TN, NC, SC, and VA until they are adopted and these states are our approved adoption areas. You must be willing to drive to the dog's foster home in order to adopt it. The location of each dog is listed at the bottom of its bio. BEFORE meeting an SRC dog, you must be approved to adopt. Our downloadable Adoption Application is on our web site at  schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org   and may be submitted via email or fax (1-910-401-1317). You may request an Adoption Application to email address:  adoptions@schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org Upon receipt of your application, a vet reference check will be done and if the vet check is satisfactory then a home visit will be done. The entire process normally takes three to seven days, depending on your location. Please plan on welcoming your new dog into your home within two weeks after approval. We are not able to hold dogs because this limits our intake of others in need; SRC adopt them out on a first-come, first-serve basis based on a completed approved adoption process. SRC does not ordinarily adopt its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. Exceptions are sometimes made on a case by case basis but only when the dog has been raised with children and the children are very respectful of animals.  This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children. Procedures will be explained to you at the time of approval regarding donation and contract. Your donation is in honor of the adoption of your new family companion and is not a purchase of an animal.  This tax deductible donation goes forward to help incoming rescued dogs.
