Story
Bonnie is a 4 year old, 52lb Golden Retriever, who arrived as a stray. She’s an incredibly sweet, affectionate girl and we’re happy to tell you more about her.Bonnie’s absolute favorite things include giving/receiving affection, going on car rides (she’s perfectly mannered both in the car and in public), getting pets and cuddles, going for walks, and being brushed. She’s also obsessed with her stuffed animals—her “babies”—and loves to carry them around and play gently with them. As a treat- and food-motivated pup, she’s eager to please when snacks are involved! Bonnie is a true “velcro dog”—she loves being near her people as much as possible. However, she’s still working on respecting personal space, especially when someone is sitting or laying down. She will need continued guidance and consistency to help her learn appropriate boundaries. She is very quiet (almost never barks), fully potty trained, and gets along well with other dogs and cats (her prey drive is very minimal and manageable with a “no chase” cue). She is always ready for a scratch behind the ears, or belly rub, but her super power is a good game of fetch! Bonnie cannot be kenneled, as it leads to destructive behavior or even self-harm. She experiences separation anxiety, which is currently being managed with medication:• Fluoxetine (20mg daily) for overall mental health—her vet may recommend a dosage adjustment soon.• Trazodone (150mg) given 1.5–2 hours before being left alone to help ease her anxiety.Bonnie has focal seizures, which the Fluoxetine is expected to help with. While Bonnie is intelligent and capable, she can be stubborn and doesn’t reliably respond to commands like “no,” “off,” “leave it,” or “down” when it comes to personal space. She would benefit greatly from ongoing obedience training and someone with patience and consistency.Bonnie is living in a foster home but is available to meet during the week. Please fill out a consultation form and we’ll ask one of our adoption counselors to give you a call and give you more info about her, and find out more about what you’re looking for in a pup. If it’s potentially a good match, we’ll set up an appointment with the foster home. You are also welcome to come and see us in person and speak with an adoption counselor if you’d prefer to do that. Please go to our website to fill out a consultation form: https://us06d.sheltermanager.com/service?account=zp1008&method=online_form_html&formid=6 and we’ll have someone reach out to you. We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs and/or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality / needs of the dog / cat. Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. An inquiry on a dog or cat does not automatically put that dog or cat on hold for anyone. If there’s more than one family at our facility at the same time that’s interested in a dog , we will hold a lottery with all families that are a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).Thank you for looking to adopt! Story
Tessa was brought into the county shelter as a frightened stray who had trouble walking on her hind limbs and was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. After x-rays were taken, it was determined that she has a severe spinal deformity. With her sweet face, we knew we needed to save her from euthanasia and get her into our care for further diagnostics. Thankfully, with the love and care of her foster family paired with excellent veterinary care, Tessa has fully recovered from her upper respiratory treatment. Tessa is crate- and house-trained, has lovely leash manners and sleeps through the night. She also does so well when left unattended at home. She is learning basic obedience, though considering how incredibly food-motivated she is, she's more than happy to do just about anything for a treat! Tessa absolutely LOVES to wrestle and run around with her foster fur-siblings. She loves all things fluffy (like herself), whether that’s napping in a cozy dog bed or squeaking her favorite stuffy. She is a playful, loving, silly girl just waiting for a family to call her own! Her dream home would include a doggy friend and have no stairs but plenty of yard to play in. Tessa’s adoption fee includes completed veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchip and spay. Apply now to let this golden girl light up your life with her brilliant smile, goofy personality and joy de vivre! Story
We have an 11 month-old golden retriever, Norman. Norman has been fixed and has gone through 6 weeks of in-home training at our house. Norman requires a home where someone can exercise him daily and help keep his active brain challenged. We have a family of 6 and my husband and I both work and unfortunately, cannot give him the time and attention needed to help him thrive. We’re asking for a rehoming fee to ensure he goes to a loving home.

Story
5 year old(June 2020) Golden Retriever looking for new active and loving owners. Got him when he was a puppy from a breeder. He is a great dog but our family obligations have grown making it hard to provide the care and attention he deserves. He is well trained and house broken. Very friendly with people, children, and other dogs. Behavior towards cats is unknown. He is very social and loves everyone he meets. No doubt that he will bond fast with a new caring owner. Complete vaccination records available. Chipped. Requirements for new owners: - Have backyard or quick access to outdoor play space - Committed to daily walks - Committed to daily play and attention - Willing to endure seasonal shedding which can be heavy but mitigated with daily brushing

Story
Meet Miss Cora, a 2.5 year old Pitty/Retriever and a wonderful girl! She's potty trained, crate trained and loves to hop in the car with the windows open. She loves to play fetch with her favorite orange ball. Walks are short, as she'd rather play in the yard. Cora knows the commands to sit, paw and lie down and is highly motivated with treats! She takes them very gently. She loves her people. Sometimes she doesn't know her own size and can play a little hard, so older kids (teenagers) are best for her. If younger, slow intros are best until she knows to be softer. Cats are best with slow introduction as well. Cora is a kind soul and a momma to 11 babies!
