Story
Looking to rehome our Jax. He is just not happy at our home. He has been very nervous and destructive while we are away. He is very sweet, lazy and fairly mellow when in a single-family dwelling. He is great at my boyfriends house who has just a regular home without shared walls. I live in a converted garage and he is extremely nervous here, even while being on anxiety medication. He is approximately 8 years old. We think he's part golden retriever, corgi and spaniel. He is neutered, micro-chipped and house trained. Small rehoming fee of $50. Comes with excellent quality dog food, leash, dog beds, toys. It breaks my heart to have to rehome him but he is just not happy here. Too many noises that continue to be problematic. Not sure how he is with children. He barks at other dogs while on walks. He's adorable and loves to cuddle. He needs high value treats when meeting strangers unless your outside, then he seems to be okay with most people. I got him from the shelter 18 months ago.

Meet Nugget! This young female pup is quiet and gentle, and is looking for a loving home to settle into. Nugget is a sweetheart who is a bit shy and reserved, but give her some love and attention and she'll warm right up to you. She would do best in a quiet home where she can relax and take her time adjusting. That being said, she'd love to go on nice walks and explore the world around her. she gets along with other dogs. She is a lovely girl who can't wait to meet you, so come down to the rescue and see if she is the pup for you!

Available to foster or adopt!Breed: Golden Retriever X DOB: 3/2022 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: large Color(s): gold / white Description:***Needs a Foster Home***This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application.Hi, I'm Smiley, a handsome Golden Retriever X rescued from a Salinas shelter where I was found as a stray. No one came to claim me and I was lucky enough to have many people follow through with their pledges to sponsor me so I could come into CARL's adoption program.I like toys and I'm very treat motivated. I'm smart and walk well on leash. I'm very sweet meeting people, but I'm a big boy and tend to jump up a bit so although I haven't been around children, I would probably do best in a home with older bigger children. I don't really react to other dogs and I can walk in tandem with another dog, but I can be a bit testy in playgroups at the kennel so as a safety precaution I wear a muzzle.I hope it's not long before I'm a cherished member of a loving family. If you're interested in meeting me, please fill out an online application.*Thank you to all the people who are sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.February 12, 2025, 2:52 pm

Story
About Me  Hi, I’m Makai. I'm 2 years old, and I came to SCGRR last year after a good samaritan helped me get off the streets.   I’d been living with a person who struggled with addiction and had to learn to fend for myself.    Since coming to SCGRR I’ve learned how wonderful it is to be in a home with people, plenty of food and a warm bed.   I’ve been through a lot, and I’m still learning how to be the best dog I can be.    People tell me I’m a big boy weighing in at 90 pounds.   My people are working to give me training, but sometimes I forget how big I can be.   For this reason, I probably shouldn’t be in a house with young kids.   As I had to fight a bit on the streets, I’m not really fond of other dogs and really want to be your one and only.    In return, I will give tons of love and laughs, and probably even a bit of protection.   I love to be near my humans; it’s my favorite thing in the world. I like to greet new people, and I’m getting used to how nice it feels when they’re gentle with me.  I’m really good in the car, and I’m learning to walk on a leash in the yard.  At this point my trainer is recommending that I not going on walks out of the yard as I’m not very good at meeting other dogs. I like to play with bouncy balls.  I also sniff around the counters, but my humans have made sure I can’t find any tasty surprises there.  I really just want a quiet house to rest in and a yard of my own to play in.  My Ideal Home  I’m a big guy, so I need a yard where I can run around and play. I would do best in a home without  children, just because I’m still learning how to be gentle with my size and I’d never want to accidentally hurt anyone. I want to be your only one so please no other dogs, cats or animals.   If you have the patience to help me learn and grow, I promise to give you all the love and loyalty I have.  I would really benefit from continued training.  I just want to spend my life with my forever human. Will you be that person?  Want to Adopt me?  If you believe your home is the perfect match for me, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application (https://scgrrescue.org/adoption-app/) and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer. Then, tell my personal representative (aka Rep), more about why we are a great match via email at scgrr.adopt@gmail.com   Please note:  We are only able to cover and adopt out to residents of Southern California.  Adoption fee:  $600.00 February 24, 2025, 10:20 am

Story
Hi! My name is Tomo, and I am waiting to be matched to my forever home! I was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by the DoVE Project. My fate would have been to live in fear and distress, watching dogs being led to slaughter for human consumption. DoVE Project heard about me, and now I am looking for my forever family! ID/NAME: CARE23-054 / Tomo SEX/WEIGHT/AGE: Male / 60.6 lbs / 8 years BIRTH DATE: April, 2015 BREED: Golden Retriever SPAY/NEUTER/VACCINATIONS: Spayed. Vaccinations complete. Health/physical characteristics: Tomo’s teeth are notably decayed and missing. Scratch marks on his nose. Six claws on each hind leg. BEHAVIOR: Tomo is. quiet and polite 9-year-old Golden Retriever mix. He was once someone's pet but somehow ended up in the hands of a dog meat trader. Her was rescued in 2022 and we're very happy that he is now living a life free from fear, hunger, and thirst. He is still finding his way, after keeping to himself but with each day he becomes more trusting of humans. While he may need some extra care and attention, we do not doubt that the bond he will share with his forever family will be very special. SIBLINGS/FAMILY: Unknown BACKGROUND: When Tomo was rescued, he was unhealthy and severely malnourished, requiring veterinary care. After receiving care, he seemed to revel in being clean, having meals, and in living in better conditions. ABOUT JINDOS Jindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean and easily housetrained, and are faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, going on hikes, and joining the family on trips. ABOUT OUR DOGS DoVE dogs come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors. ********************************* DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. In the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names. Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process If you are interested in adopting, please complete an online application at: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-application-form.

Story
Meet Margaret, a 1-year-old spayed female with a heart as golden as her fur! This sweet girl is a delightful mix of Golden Retriever and Welsh Corgi, with the gentle, expressive face of a Retriever and the charming, compact body of a Corgi. Weighing in at 16kg, she’s the perfect mid-sized companion for just about any home. Margaret’s journey hasn’t been easy—she was found alone in a deserted field where she was sadly being raised for meat consumption. Thankfully, a kind-hearted local stepped in and got her the help she needed. Despite her past, Margaret is full of love and trust, eager to share her affection with the world. She’s a social butterfly who adores people, whether familiar or new. Margaret loves to nuzzle up to everyone she meets, happily accepting pets and belly rubs—even offering up her belly to strangers with zero hesitation. She’s just as friendly with men as she is with women, and although she hasn’t spent time with children under 13, her sweet, affectionate nature suggests she’d do great with kids. You can even scoop her up by placing your arms under her belly—though fair warning, she may flop over in anticipation of being picked up! Margaret’s friendliness extends to her fellow canines too. She joyfully greets other dogs, whether they’re old pals or brand-new acquaintances, and invites them to play with her cheerful energy. She’s so popular that some dogs can’t help but follow her around, but Margaret never minds. Even if a dog pesters her or tries to stir trouble, she simply walks away—no drama here! She especially enjoys the company of dogs similar in size to her and has a knack for making friends wherever she goes. As for cats, Margaret hasn’t lived with one yet, but she’s gentle and non-aggressive, so a feline sibling could be a possibility with proper introductions. Margaret has a moderate energy level—she enjoys outdoor adventures but knows how to relax once she’s had her fun. She absolutely loves going on walks and gets a little excited at first, which might mean some light pulling, but overall, she follows her human well and is a joy to stroll with. This lovely girl doesn’t guard her food from people or other dogs, has no separation anxiety, and rarely barks. She’s calm in a kennel, does her business outside, and is ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of cuddles to her forever home. View more photos and videos on Facebook (Link to Post) or Instagram (Link to Post) Does Margaret sound like the right companion for you? Send in your application today here or through our website:adoptmekoreanrescue.org/adoption-application/ AKR dogs can arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport and may be able to arrive at some US airports (Seattle, LA, NY, Boston, etc) where we have flight volunteers.
