ABOUT ZELDA Meet our sweet girl, Zelda! She is a 5-year-old mixed breed with the biggest heart! Zelda came to HAP when her owners could no longer care for her. Despite being in the shelter after living in a home, she has remained a lover girl. Zelda enjoys meeting new people and is very friendly. She is also a regular participant in our Doggy Day Out program, where volunteers take dogs on outings with them! When she's not enjoying a hike with our volunteers or snuggled up with someone on staff, you can usually find her curled up on her bed enjoying a long nap. Zelda also enjoys going for long walks and playing with stuffs. Zelda already knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, and is very eager to please. She has done well meeting other dogs, though she prefers calm, gentle doggy friends best! Zelda has also participated in our Doggy Day Out program, here's what a few volunteers had to say about her: "Got to take the sweetest Miss Zelda out today. She walked very well on the leash the whole time without pulling on it at all. It's very easy to lead her and when she gets distracted she gets back on track very quickly (even when she sees a squirrel!) She was so happy to meet people and was very kind when approaching people, no jumping up or getting over excited. Everyone loved giving her pets. She liked flopping over and rolling on the warm bricks. She would be an incredible addition to any home!" - Anna "I had a lovely day with Zelda! She’s fun, playful, sweet and well-behaved. We started the day with a walk around the neighborhood. Zelda walks great on the leash. She loves to stop and sniff everything. Zelda wasn’t quite so sure about the geese. She was a bit spooked when one of them flapped its wings! Zelda was so behaved in the house. She sits for treats and gives her paw. Zelda absolutely loved playing for most of the day. She enjoyed throwing and chasing soft toys and a squeaky. Zelda ended the day by cuddling up and getting lots of attention. Zelda is such a sweet and happy dog and I hope she’s adopted soon!" - Zoe "Zelda was so so well behaved. The entire time I was waiting for her to bark, jump on the counter but nope, nothing! She is such a cuddly girl who enjoyed anything we brought her along to do. We went for a walk around campus, and despite how busy it was she could not have cared less! Bikers, loud cars, crowds of people, nothing phased her and she just walked along. She absolutely loved the tennis balls we gave her and she enjoyed rolling around on the carpet. She is amazing in the car and even took a little nap in there when I first picked her up! She was the best and I loved being able to spend the day with her." - Meredith If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
Meet Tracy and Stacy! Tracy and Stacy are 5 year old standard poodle/golden retriever mixes who were both saved from the same commercial breeding facility in Lancaster County. They were given up because they were no longer profitable as breeder mamas. They came to us covered from head to toe in matted fur, like most puppy mill poodle mixes, but thanks to our wonderful grooming volunteers have had the pain and weight of those mats removed! They look beautiful and can have a fresh start in their new life! They are very shy right now, due to their years of abuse and neglect, but are slowly starting to give us their trust. We are confident they will make wonderful family members for any family who understands their past and gives them the time they needs to trust. These girls love one another, and would love to spend the rest of their days together but if they cannot they do need to go to homes with another dog in the house. We require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Puppy mill dogs tend to do best in a home without young children as well (10+), though this determination is made on a case by case basis. Please apply to be considered at our website www.angelsretreat.org! 💕🐾 To learn more about our puppy mill survivor program please go to the following link (or find all our links and ways to donate in our bio): https://angelsretreat.org/special-programs-for-special-dogs/mill-mamas/ Tracy and Stacy Quick Facts: -They are large dogs, standard poodle sized -They are both still learning to trust, and would do best in a home without young children -Preference will be given to homes that would keep them together, but if not they must go into homes with another confident dog in the house -They are house trained!

Both Sienna and Cherry are on medication called Clonidine, which has significantly improved their well-being and is affordable at only $10 for 180 tablets from Walmart. Background Sienna and Cherry's journey began when they were rescued at the tender age of 5 months. They were starving and scared but have now transformed into beautiful and loving dogs under our care.
