Here’s what his foster mom has to say: “We started our foster journey with Mr. Murphy and he’s been an absolute delight! Murphy is an 8-9-year-old golden retriever mix. He’s currently groomed with short hair, but his beautiful golden retriever coat will grow back soon. Murphy would be perfect for an older family. He’s great with my young kids, but he’s more of a relaxed companion who loves to lounge around. He’d thrive in a home where he can rest and enjoy a peaceful environment. He’s curious about my cats and wants to play, but the cats aren’t quite ready for that yet, lol. Murphy is the calmest dog I’ve ever met. He travels well in the car, eats with no fuss, and has no issues with potty training. My kids even gave him a bath by themselves, and he stood still the entire time! He loves his bone, sits and gives paw on command for treats, and is incredibly well-mannered and snuggly. He follows me everywhere and has so much love to give. I was in a TERRIFYING situation, scheduled to be euthanized in a Texas kill shelter. Just when it seemed all hope was lost, a wonderful family saw my plight and REFUSED to let that be my fate. They quickly organized to have me transported to South Florida, paying for my rescue, transport and vet care. They SAVED my life and gave me a second chance. Now, I'm safe, but I need your help to find a loving home. I am house trained and good a leash. I have a gentle soul and get along wonderfully with people and other dogs. I've even done great around the kids I’ve met! I’m a super chill, laid-back guy who loves the simple things in life—getting cozy on the floor or couch, feeling cold AC on my fur, enjoying a good snack, and lapping up a cold bowl of water. When I arrived, my fur was extremely matted, but a kind groomer came to the house and helped me out. Once my coat grows back, I’ll be the handsome golden fellow I was always meant to be. I'm a loving boy who deserves the best life possible for my golden years.
