Story
MEET MURPHY!! Sweet big puppy Murphy was found at an elementary school being cuddly with all the kids! He loves BIG HUGS! He's your typical curious puppy and loves to explore. Cuddles on the couch are his favorite and he enjoys meeting new friends of the 2 and 4 legged varieties. Tug-o-war is his absolute fave, but he'll settle down for hours with a good bone to nibble on. We're working on fetch but mostly he just likes to retrieve stuffies and then bounce off like a bunny! So far he's been gentle with soft toys and doesn't destroy them! His foster parents are impressed with his leash walking and that he hasn't had an accident in the house. They have a 5yo tiny human that he loves to give kisses too but sometimes he get a little too excited and forgets how big he is. He LOVE car rides and sticking his nose out the window! Although going in his crate is not his most favorite thing, he will easily be persuaded with a yummy treat and sleeps in his crate all night like a perfect boy. He's met a few cats and although he's VERY curious and wants to play with them he has been gentle and not aggressive. We think he'd be the perfect addition to a family with another young dog to play and wrestle with and with kids to cuddle up to! Murphy is being fostered in San Antonio Texas and is available for transport throughout the U.S. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NAF/Dog

Story
Meet Hermione There's nothing mythical about me - Hermione the pup is here in the fur! I'm a friendly and funny girl, and I love to play. In fact, I'm so playful I'm not even sure I knew what I was playing with! I'm good with other dogs, a trait I may have gotten from my mom, and I love to give kisses. I'm affectionate, curious, and sweet, and I'm just a baby - 12 weeks old to be exact! I am one of 12 pups in my litter, so I am well socialized and ready to take on the world with you. I love dogs, cats, and all people. I am also doing great on my potty training and have almost mastered the doggy door. Story
We know her flowing golden locks and sweet loving eyes are going to gain a lot of attention...but Amelia is no ordinary puppy. Amelia was the only pup in her litter that did not find a home. Unfortunately for her, this meant she stayed with her dog mom and human family for longer than normal and was not appropriately socialized to the outside world. Amelia is afraid of EVERYTHING! She is not the confident happy puppy that will follow you everywhere. In fact, we can barely get her to follow us ANYWHERE unless another happy confident dog is coming with her (and even then it is a struggle). Amelia is doing a great job warming up to some of our staff members that are spending extra time going very very very slow with her. Like painfully slow. And this is what she will need in a new home. She does well with other confident dogs and could probably live with cats as well. She does need a lot of training to help her get to be the best version of herself. Here are a few ideas of what that will look like: - A quiet home where there are not a lot of visitors coming in and out. For this reason, we are only entertaining homes with older kids that are able to identify her fearful body language as well as respect her need to not be pushed. - If you do have visitors, Amelia is not the kind of puppy that wants to be involved in the entertainment. She would be much happier in her own quiet space while you have guests over. - Amelia is not the puppy that you bring to football games, camping, or even walks in a crowded place. At this time, she does not know how to walk on a leash and it will take her some time to feel more confident in that. Walks in a quiet space are a must right now and helping her to learn how to walk on leash (not pulling and forcing her places but using treats to guide her where you want to go) will take time. Plan on extra time before and after work to get her outdoors without a struggle. While she learns this you will need to have some extra patience for accidents in the house. - She might never be a dog that can be off leash in an unfenced yard. So plan on leashing her up to go outside if your yard is not fenced in. - Amelia would succeed best by getting some additional positive reinforcement training. The more time you put into it, the better she will become as she reaches her adult years. This means months of making slow progression towards things she is scared of while giving her rewards (maybe in the form of cheese?). Amelia needs a special home that is willing to put the time and effort into making her a more confident adult dog. If you are up for that challenge, she will repay you in snuggles - she seems to think she is a lap dog and is so sweet once she trusts you! If you have some extra time to dedicate to this sweet girl and her special training needs, please contact us to setup an appointment!
