Story
Hey there! I’m Vincent LaGuardia Gambini—Vinny to my friends, and trust me, you’re going to want to be one of them. At 3 years old and 58 pounds, I’m a Golden Retriever with a personality that’s as golden as my fur. If you’re looking for a dog with character, charm, and just a sprinkle of puppy mischief, you’ve hit the jackpot. Before we dive into all the fun and silly things that come with owning a Golden like me, let me tell you a bit about how I ended up here, waiting for you. I didn’t always have it so easy. I found myself in a shelter, wondering what on earth had happened. It was a bit of a rough patch, but I kept my spirits up, hoping that someone would see the sweet, lovable pup beneath my golden fur. Just when I thought things couldn’t get tougher, I got hit with the news that I was heartworm-positive. Yep, talk about adding insult to injury. But then, like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, PPFT stepped in and scooped me up. I knew right then and there that things were looking up. They took me in, treated me like the VIP I am, and promised to help me get back to my best self. And let me tell you, I’ve been living my best life ever since! I’m in the middle of my heartworm treatment now, which means I’m on a bit of a health journey. Because of that, I won’t be able to join my forever home until the second week of September. But trust me, I’ll be worth the wait! Let’s start with the basics: I’m a bit of a homebody who’s still figuring out that the world isn’t as scary as it seems. Sure, I might need a little nudge to hop into the car (seriously, those things are huge!), but once I’m in, I’m all about that laid-back lifestyle. Just toss me a blanket, and I’ll be content to snooze the ride away. I take my role as your personal assistant very seriously. If you’re moving from room to room, expect me to follow you like a fluffy little ghost. Whether you’re working, cooking, or just lounging on the couch, I’ll be right there, making sure you’re never alone. I’m like a built-in emotional support system with a tail—always happy to provide comfort and companionship. When it comes to hanging out at home, I’m the king of cozy. I’m a sucker for TV—especially if it’s got a British accent—and I’ll happily curl up next to you for a marathon of Britcoms or anything else you’ve got queued up. But don’t let my love for the couch fool you; I’ve got a playful side too. I’m always up for a game of fetch, even if I occasionally decide that running after the ball is more fun than actually bringing it back. Now, let’s talk about my social skills. I’m great with other dogs, and if you’ve got a cool, older dog, I’ll probably follow them around like they’re the most fascinating creature on Earth. I’m also pretty chill with dog-savvy cats—I usually just give them the ol’ “hey, how’s it going?” nod and go about my business. As for humans, I’m a bit of a people pleaser, especially if there’s food involved. I’m all about being where the action is, whether it’s in the kitchen during dinner prep or on the couch during movie night. You can't forget there’s the famous Golden Retriever smile that I already know how to work so well! You’ll see it all the time, especially when I’m trying to convince you that whatever food you’re eating should also be shared with me. You’ll soon discover that I’m an expert in the art of puppy dog eyes. I’m still working on my confidence, so a house with super young, loud kids might be a bit too much for me right now. I might jump up near people when I’m excited—think of me as a spring-loaded toy that’s always ready to bounce! But don’t worry, I’m a gentle soul, just excited to be part of the fun. I do talk a bit—I’m not a big barker, but I do enjoy a good conversation. You’ll find that I’m more about the growl-talk and happy barks, especially when you get home or wake up in the morning. Who wouldn’t want a cheerful greeting to start the day? Now, I have to be honest, I’m still figuring out this whole “grown-up dog” thing. My leash skills are a work in progress, and while I walk pretty well if something startles me, I might try to pull a Houdini and try to slip out of my harness so let’s keep an eye on that until I’m fully comfortable. Now let’s talk about fur. If you’re not already a fan of the color gold, you’re about to be, because you’ll find my beautiful fur everywhere. I’m basically a walking, wagging confetti machine, and I’m generous with my fluff. Embrace it—it’s like having a piece of me with you at all times! I’m a gentleman through and through, and I know exactly where to take care of business. No messes, no fuss—just a well-mannered pup who respects his indoor surroundings. And while we’re on the subject of being well-behaved, I should mention that I’m also kennel trained. When it comes to roaming the house, I’m still in the “puppy in a grown-up body” phase, so I’m not quite ready for full free reign just yet. It’s not that I’m a troublemaker—more like I’m still figuring out what’s okay to chew on and what’s not. Blankets are my favorite, and I’m pretty good about sticking to my own doggy blankets, but my foster family believes in setting me up for success. So, for now, I require a bit of supervision to make sure I don’t mistake your favorite throw pillow for a toy. 📍 Pickup Location: Midwest City, OK 📝 Adoption App: https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/hx000BP7nbQvjHX49Uur80FV3
