Story
Nessie (named after the famous Loch Ness “Nessie”) is a dog with quite the story to tell! One morning a few weeks back, PACC dog walkers noticed a dog a few yards out in the lake near the shelter! They weren’t sure if she was just hanging out, enjoying a swim, or if she needed help. It soon became apparent that she had gotten herself stuck in the mud and tree branches, so they made their way out into the lake to save her. With some fancy rope wrangling and a lot of patience, they were able to free Nessie and bring her into the safety of the shelter. We don’t know how Nessie managed to get stuck in the lake, but we’re so grateful that we were able to help her get out! After an ordeal like that, Nessie was understandably a little shaken up. But, during her time in the shelter she made incredible strides, trusting people and showing her affectionate, sweet, and goofy personality. Nessie spent about a month in a home and did well with kids, dogs of all sizes, cats, and even livestock. She was housebroken (used puppy pads) and was described as very sweet and affectionate. Her family said that she likes to go hiking, loves toys, and loves being with her people. Here`s what some of Nessie’s volunteer friends have said:“I adore this girl. She’s a tad shy when you first meet her, but very quickly wants affection and to climb right in your lap. She is so sweet, wiggly and silly and has come so far since she first came to the shelter!!”“Holy moly, Nessie is absolutely thriving! This once scared, nervous pup has blossomed into a complete kissy love bug! She was super friendly when I greeted her at her kennel door, with a wagging tail and relaxed body; easy to leash up. I brought her and her kennelmate over to a play yard and she just wanted to snuggle! So many kisses and comfortable with touch all over her body, this girl is amazing!”“I haven`t seen Nessie in a few weeks and it was amazing to spend time with her today! She has come so far from when she first entered the shelter right out of the lake! She was easy to leash up in her kennel and was a pretty delightful walker. She would occasionally look to me for reassurance, and we practiced her lovely “sit” along the way. She took treats gently and seemed to enjoy gentle head and neck scratches. When we arrived back at her kennel, I sat with her inside for a couple of minutes just to snuggle and she was very calm and sweet. I know that with some patience and the ri

Story
Admiral is a gorgeous, smart 4 year-old sweetheart. Adopted from PACC Tucson in mid-December. Housebroken, knows commands & learns new instruction quickly. He's terrific with all people he meets & great with my 13 yo. He sits (preemptively!) while waiting for leash to be put on & food to be put out. A "velcro Dane." Whenever we’re gone, he simply lies by window & sleeps/watches until return. No destructive tendencies observed or experienced. He gets along great with our sweet runt two-year old terrier/labradoodle mix. On that note however, Admiral has shown fear/stress-based aggression responses to some other (larger) dogs. Will share more, but needs patient training & calmer home where he's probably only dog & w/ Great Dane experience (like ours). Big unexpected life changes w/ new baby coming make our capacity/timing for this not possible for us, sadly (blending in 2 more dogs because of this), particularly given his size & strength. Will provide dog bed/s, food bin, leash/leader!

Story
I found Hank on the streets when he was about 5 months old. He was malnourished and terrified, so I assume he has a history of abuse. He is very loving and has no idea what personal space is lol. Plays really well with other dogs, despite his size he is very submissive when playing with other big dogs. We do not have kids so I am not sure how he is with them, from a distance he does not seem to be a fan. If you are gonna adopt him he needs a yard. He is rambunctious and needs a lot of exercise, but he is extremely trainable. Because of his mistrust for people in the past, it might take some work when he is first adopted. Lots of treats and respectful body language are important.
