NALA is a 3 year old female great dane mix. She was surrendered to the shelter when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. Nala currently weighs 90 lbs. She is currently with a great foster so we're getting to know her much better. Here's what we know. She loves people and other dogs. For her size, she's quite gentle and has become the best friend of a 3 year old. Some days, she likes her crate, some days she doesn't. (although she doesn't do anything destructive when she out). She loves to sleep on the couch, and she is house trained. Here is her quirk. Once she goes outside, she doesn't want to come in. And due to her size, she's hard to move if she doesn't want to do. At this point, walking her on a leash is a challenge. Her perfect family will be one that has time to continue to work with her. She will need a good, fenced yard. She is still learning new things and the routines of her foster home and she's making good progress. She has all the signs of a dog that wasn't socialize properly as a youngster. We do know her previous owner had been ill for a while, so Nala was probably to her own devices. In person, her brindle coat with white accents, is just gorgeous! TAWNEY is an 11 month old, female great dane/mastiff mix. She currently weighs 90 lbs and is not even close to her mature weight. These extra-large breeds need every bit of 2 years to grow. She is a wonderful dog, with a wonderful temperament. To help our "little pony" catch up on her skills, she is currently enrolled in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. She is eager to please, food motivated and very charming. Her inmate is having a blast! In a short amount of time, she'll be leash, crate, house and obedience trained. In the meantime, she's supplying everyone with an endless amount of entertainment. She runs like a newborn foal - legs moving every which way. Once still, she's a leaner. Droopy eyes, saggy lips - She's perfect! Her perfect home must have a fenced in yard. Older children and other dogs are fine. Extra-large breed experience is a plus. Their size does provide a different lifestyle. They fill a room up quickly! If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. Lucy is a 4 year old Great Dane who is very loving and great with kids. She needs a home where she has someone to play with her and give her the attention she needs. We have a cat but they avoid each other. She would be ok with large dogs but unsure about smaller dogs. She is house trained.

Meet Tyg (Tygrys) ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL: YOU CAN ADOPT TYG FOR JUST $1! PLEASE SHARE THIS POST FAR & WIDE. TYG DESERVES HIS HAPPILY EVER AFTER! Sadly, Tyg has been at the GRRAND kennel for over a year. The kennel volunteers recently had a pool party to celebrate Tyg's one-year anniversary at the kennel - he got to swim, eat doggie cake, and of course, get dressed up! Tyg is a 5-year-old Anatolian Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix who came to GRRAND in 2019 as a 3-month-old puppy. He was adopted by a couple who sadly had to return him in June 2023 due to unforeseen circumstances. He was so sad and would sit by the fence looking for his people to return. He is now settled at the kennel and is certainly a volunteer favorite! Once he decides you are okay, you will be his best bud - but it takes him a while to warm up to new people. He will try and squeeze his 100+ lb body on a chair with you for hugs and kisses. The volunteers love to dress him up and he never complains; the perfect model! He loves the pool and gets to go for a swim every day in the summer. He is very well trained on the leash and loves to go for walks, but he does have a tendency to lunge at large trucks and vans so he needs a strong hand to keep him under control. Tyg is a special boy. He is extremely sweet, loyal and protective of his people. We believe it's best for Tyg to go to a home with an experienced dog owner, no other pets and no children, ideally with a large fenced yard he can patrol, and few outside visitors. Please open your heart and home for this wonderful boy.
