Story
Are you looking for a true Southern belle Dane? If so, then Mya is your belle of the ball! Mya is a beautiful five-year-old fawn Dane (mixed in with a little we-don’t-know what) who doesn’t simply walk, she sashays her hips from side-to-side as she sidles up to you for a lean-in rub. Like a true belle, Mya is house trained and will let you know when she needs to go out by going to the back door. She loves a cuddle and, when she is completely relaxed, will roll on her back and put all four of her pretty paws in the air for a full-on belly rub. The couch and her dog bed are her places to get extra love. Mya was overweight when she came to her foster family- but she is slowly slimming down. Mya does best with a sensitive skin and stomach dog food (easy to buy online) and has absolutely no food aggression. Mya LOVES her treats (very food motivated) and has been known to counter surf (which her foster family is working on with her) when her foster family is out of the house. She does well at home alone but, true to Dane style, she prefers to be around her people. Like a Southern belle, Mya LOVES to be in the garden and stares intently at a tree for the longest time- in hopes of chasing a squirrel that dares to climb down or waiting for we don’t know what! Mya is a great companion in the car and loves to go for rides. She is on medication (Pruin) for mild leakage- but the vet feels that as she loses weight it will be a non-issue. Mya is very protective over her family members and we are working with her on this. Mya will sashay her way into your heart and home in no time! Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about adoption.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER: Grug – updated bio HISTORY: Born May 17, 2024 PERSONALITY: Grug is a cuddler. He’ll chew on your nose and earlobe before curling up and sleeping on your lap. This boy will be your sidekick through thick and thin, even if you run out of treats. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: eating, sleeping, playing, pestering every living and non-living thing in the house, eating every stick he can find and making you laugh MEDICAL ISSUES: none known WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: A loving home that will meet his needs for playtime and training. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. **Puppy Adoption Policy: To ensure proper house training and socialization, puppies will only be adopted to homes where an adult will not be away more than an hour per day, per month of age of the puppy, up to 6 months. Certain large-breed dogs should not be sterilized prior to 12 - 18 months of age. If you adopt an intact puppy, you will sign an adoption contract agreeing to have the dog sterilized at your expense at the time your veterinarian recommends. Proof of sterilization must be provided to Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue as soon as the procedure is completed. If the puppy is not sterilized as required, Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue reserves the right to claim legal ownership of the dog.  Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER: Abby -updated bio HISTORY: Abby came to MTM with her three pups after giving birth under a stranger’s porch. Since coming to MTM she has put on weight and shown what a wonderful dog she is. PERSONALITY: Abby is so very sweet; she’s a pro at the Great Dane lean and also will pull your hand over if you stop petting her. She’s happy to lay on the couch with her head on your lap. She’s calm, easygoing and enjoys meeting people. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: She likes being with people and enjoys naps on the couch. She will get frisky and ask one of the other dogs to play. MEDICAL ISSUES: Once her stitches from being spayed have healed she has no known medical issues. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Abby would do best in a quiet home or a home that will give her the time needed to settle in. She does well with other dogs, cats and livestock, but would prefer to get more attention. Fireworks and thunder worries her, but she’s ok as long as she feels safe. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:  Abby is sweet, calm and generally well behaved. During the day she has free roam of the house and interacts well with the pack of five dogs that live in her foster home. (Even the crazy Dane puppy that’s the size of a horse and has zero concept of personal space.) At night Abby has the choice of sleeping on a dog bed or on the couch. So far she has always ended up on the couch. Word of warning though, she’s a counter surfer. Possibly that will ease as she settles into her forever home, but no guarantees so be prepared. Abby has sometimes been protective of her food. Although it can sound bad it’s a case of all bark and no bite. She is not being aggressive, but she might trigger a less stable dog. Time, patience and understanding will be required from all members of the household. Abby would be good for a first time Dane owner or anyone wanting a young but mature, well behaved adult dog. She’s all the fun of a young, active dog without the house training and the Velociraptor puppy stage. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER: Maxi aka Max is a curious and silly boy that likes attention and to be involved in all that is going on in the household. If you are looking for a dog that likes activities and trips, Maxi is your dog. HISTORY: Max has been with his current owner since 10 weeks old. He comes from a healthy bloodline with good temperament. He’s intelligent and good mannered. He’s been to basic and intermediate training to include e-collar. He’s very inquisitive and likes to interact with people and animals. PERSONALITY: Maxi is a quintessential goofy Dane. He’s playful, silly, and just a happy guy. He is eager to please and likes to be around his person (people). He loves to be outside, but always with sunscreen in the summer (He’s a Harl). He’s very expressive and can be down right dramatic. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Max loves short walks, especially in the woods. He likes to play with jolly balls and do “zoomies” in the grass. He also like to lounge and sleep. He’s happy to take a ride to the lake or beach and loves to play in shallow water. MEDICAL ISSUES: Max doesn’t have any medial issues. He’s a very healthy boy. He has food allergies to poultry and grains that makes him itchy and red. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Maxi would be amazing in a home with other animals or older children. He’s friendly, but his paws and tail tend to catch smaller children by surprise. He would do well in a sedate or moderately active home. Max would love a family/owner that includes him in all the household activities. He’s happy to watch a movie with you, lay next to you while you work, or play with other pets. Maxi loves and is very good with small dogs and cats as well. He is very aware of the size difference and is gentle with small animals. He gets along well with large dogs and had been around farm animals as well, specifically goats. It was hard to convince Max he was not a goat. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application **Courtesy post located in Bel Air, MD** AleXander the Great is a wonderful boy in search of a family to call his own... a family that can show him time, love, and the attention he deserves.   HISTORY: Xander, to no fault of his own, has had to jump around a bit due to his family's financial difficulties.  When times were good he lived with his human mom, two other great danes and a chocolate lab with plenty of room to run around.  His best friend was his 7-year-old human brother.  He also spent some time with a Rover Pet-Sitter but ultimately funds ran out and is currently living in the basement of the home where he isn’t allowed upstairs. He does have the run of the yard where he does his zoomies though.                                  PERSONALITY: Xander is extremely lovable and gentle even if he forgets his size sometimes. He rarely barks except when frightened or when people/dogs pass by when he’s in the yard. Xander is smart but lacks some discipline. He needs training to be a good walker. He pulls at first but quickly settles down. Will try to dart after rabbits and squirrels. Knows to sit for food and gives his paw. Not good at coming when called except in a confined area, like our yard. He is good with children and most people. Doesn’t trust men in hats or beards. Developed a tendency to growl at strange dogs after returning from the Rover Pet Sitting. Xander has a good-natured personality and loves being cuddled, and hugged and returns the same. He has a stubborn streak when he needs to be locked in and will occasionally try to run if he isn’t tempted with a treat.  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: WALKING and exploring. Car rides. When going for a ride he will be the first one in the vehicle. He is very good in a car. Coordination isn’t his thing and he’s no retriever. He does like to play catch me if you can with a ball, toy, or stick. Snuggling and just chilling with people. His most UN-favorite thing is being alone. He whines and whimpers. Not excessively. Again – rarely barks.  MEDICAL ISSUES: None. He was neutered a month ago and has healed well. He is up to date on all his shots and was tested for heartworm when he was neutered which was negative. All medical records will be provided. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: A home that can provide him with the attention he deserves. He craves affection and returns the same. He needs to be walked and have room to move around. Ideally, he needs to be included and surrounded by family members. I believe he would do well sharing his home with another dog or possibly cat and children.   Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. Story
Meet Titan! He is a 12 month old great mix who was adopted from us when he was three month old and was returned to us last month due to his size. He is a little smaller then a full size Great Dane, but he is a mix. He is super playful and is leash trained, house trained and has some basic training skill. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and is dewormed. He has been tossed around and is hoping to find a home and stay forever! He is so very sweet and loves to give kisses! He hopes you apply!
