Story
Lilly Jade is a purebred Great Dane, who has the rare lilac coloring. She is a beautiful girl that is full of energy. At 1 year old, she is already at over 100 pounds. She's spayed and up to date on shots/vaccines. Lilly Jade has learned some commands, is crate trained, and been in a basic training course when she was very young. However, it would be best that she receives more training in her new home. She's currently living with cats and as well as a senior Great Dane. Ideally, it would be best for her to be with another dog around her age or be able to hike/run with her new owner. She'll need plenty of exercise.

Story
All AHHS animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate). Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions. Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!   'Lost in the wilderness? We can help you find your way.' Bruce is a one-year-old Great Dane that wasn't dealt the best hand. Due to circumstances unknown, he was found at Depews Chapel Methodist Church in Kingsport. He was severely emaciated and appeared to have been fending for himself for quite some time. A group of Good Samaritans came together and took Bruce food, but he was so hurt by the neglect he'd endured that he lacked the confidence to come to anyone. One brave soul was able to lure him in and that's when Bruce joined the Appalachian Highlands Humane Society. Since then, we've worked with Bruce to get him to a healthy weight. In that time, we've discovered just what an amazing dog this truly his. Bruce is overflowing with goofy, happy energy every minute of every day. It's almost as if he's expressing his gratitude for being rescued and that he wants to make the best of every day! Bruce wants to befriend everyone in sight. He's been our 'door greeter' at the Humane Society. He is comfortable hanging out with both canine and feline friends. He can get rather playful and rowdy, so those with kiddos looking to adopt may want to take into consideration his large size. He could easily mow down a toddler (unintentionally, of course!). Bruce will be fully vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, microchipped, and will have his stomach tacked before his adoption is finalized. We will never forget the way he looked at us his first day of intake want to give him the best possible future! Breed experience is not required, though it is preferred.
