Story
Purchased as a puppy from a good family that has Great Dane/lab mom and pure breed mastiff dad. He is now 7 years old and still the sappy sweet boy he always was. Due to an allergy we are having to part ways with him without wanting too. He is good with other dogs and even cats. He loves kids and people and just a happy guy. We have never had issues with him. He is trained and lets you know if he needs to go potty and when he is ready for his food. He loves being outside and the park and will not run away when playing. He is not neutered for our personal choice and no other reason! He is up to date on all vaccines and is microchipped. He is a good listener when you tell him to sit, lay, stay, etc. Have never had issues with him and sad to have to let him go for unforeseen reasons.

Story
Thank you for your interest in one of our amazing dogs, please how our meet and greets work. We are by appointment only, all our meet and greets are outside on the same property as the shelter, under our covered, fenced area, so we must schedule appointments. If a dog is on our website, it is available for adoption. We do not schedule multiple meetings with different people for the dog on the same day. We do meet and greets Tuesday-Saturday, no night meets. We have questions at the bottom of each dog’s bio, by answering the questions in your inquiry, you help move things along, it is okay if you do not, we will send an e-mail back to you with those questions. It does not matter if you are a homeowner or renter, but please check with your rental company for breed and weight restrictions. If this will be an ESA dog, get approval from your rental company first. Our dogs are listed on Petfinder (purchased by Purina), Adopt-a-pet and rescueme.org or you can e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org with questions about the dog, please be sure to say who you are asking about. Lastly, we do review all applicants, so if you are looking to get a dog today or in the next 24 hours, we may not be the right place, by taking a little more time and reviewing we have decreased our yearly dog returns to 1%. We get back to everyone as quickly as possible, sending multiple inquires or calling multiple times, will not change the process, if you don’t get a reply e-mail within 72hrs, check your spam and junk folder, if there is nothing please e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org. Hi, I am Ottis, I am almost 4yrs old, neutered male, Great Dane/Catahoula mix. My story is long, I am an amazing dog, I am sweet, love humans and children, I know several basic commands, as my anxiety has gotten under control I have blossomed into a wonderful dog, who needs a specific type of home, the 4 questions below are what I need to live a peaceful life, if you say yes to all four, please reach out and the amazing shelter team can tell you all about me. 1. Are you experienced with dogs who have anxiety? 2. Do you have a private fenced yard? 3. Can you continue my daily medications? 4. Do you understand I cannot live with other dogs and cannot go to dog parks? My adoption fee is $200: I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and I come with a 60 day supply of my medication.
