Story
Cookie is being fostered in PA. Hi, I'm Cookie and you are about to fall in love with me. I am such a great puppy. I love to play and snuggle and give my foster mom kisses. My sister is for adoption too but I'm cuter, if I do say so myself! Everyone thinks that I was the runt of the litter but that's okay, I might be small for a Great Dane but I have a big personality to make up for it. I came to BDRA with two owie eyes that are gone now and I feel oh so much better. I can finally run around like a regular puppy and play with all my toys - and I am just a little bit spoiled with all the toys that I have! At night I like to cuddle up in bed with my foster mom and my baby blanket. Sometimes I will even suckle on it in my sleep. Other times I will sleep with one of my babies in my mouth. I don't like being put in a crate but I understand that I have to for my own safety. Just know that I am going to cry and if you live in an apartment, well, your neighbors are not going to like me very much. I am a gentle giant, I am very gentle with my toys but right now I am living with a bunch of little dogs so I don't realize how big I really am. Sometimes my big paws step on them and they don't really like that so maybe my family shouldn't have any little dogs. I just want a family to love me and someone to play with, it can be your dog, or if you don't have a dog, my sister and I get along great. We would love to stay together but don't have to be. I will play with anyone around my size. Right now I'm only 30 pounds but I have a growth spurt coming, I just know it! So those are all the great things about me but my foster mom said that I have to tell you the not so good stuff too. I am still not completely housebroken. When I wake up from a nap I really have to go potty and if you don't get me outside right away I sometimes have oopsies. I also had some tummy issues when I first came to my temporary home. My foster mom tried all types of things trying to figure it out and it seems the stress of moving away from the rest of my litter was a bit too much for me. It takes me a little while to get my tummy all settled but it does settle down. When I eat I am going to try to gobble everything up so my foster mom puts my food in a puzzle bowl that I will take with me and only gives me a little bit at a time. I don't like that very much but she says it's for my own good. After I eat I have belly resting time. My foster mom will lay down with me and rub my belly so I don't get an upset tummy. I'm a very good girl during belly resting time. My foster mom calls me Cookie Puss when I'm being good and Cookie Monster when I'm getting into all those things that puppies like to get into. I would rather chew on your shoe than a toy. If I'm not supposed to play with it, then it's my favorite thing to play with! I am also teething right now so I want to nibble on fingers, toes, your nose, anything that tastes yummy. My foster mom says that she is going to miss me very much but I deserve to live with a family that has another puppy or young dog for me to play with and even a kid or two. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi! My name is Gypsy. I am a 10 month old Great Dane. My mommy purchased my brother and I from a breeder. She thought she was doing a good thing by taking us both, but we ended up not liking each other. We developed something called “littermate syndrome” and unfortunately, we need to be in separate homes. I get along great with ALL dogs, big and small. I love cats, and kids too! My brother and I just do not get along much anymore. I would love to find a new home where I can have tons of attention and love, I bark a lot at first when strangers come in, but once I have smelled them, and realized they are good people, I snuggle in their laps! I am fully crate trained, fully potty trained, and had all of my vaccines, including my rabies. I am microchipped to my current owner, but we can have that switched to your name if you choose to adopt me! I am not old enough to be spayed. I need to be 18 months old. I am required to be spayed and will have a contract stating you will do so. If you think I could be your new gentle giant please let my people know! Love, Gypsy *Guest Posing If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at 865-236-0830. Please fill out an application on www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Adoption Fee $500ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. August 17, 2024, 1:54 am
