Story
Meet April: Your Future Loyal Companion April has been patiently waiting for her forever home for over two long years. As she watched countless dogs come and go, her heart yearned for the love and family she once knew. April’s journey began under difficult circumstances—she was believed to be a rural working dog who ended up in a kill shelter, terrified and struggling to cope with the chaos around her. Scheduled for euthanasia, she was rescued just in time. During her transport to safety, April managed to escape and spent three harrowing days running across miles of farmland in California’s central valley. When she was finally captured, it was clear that she had been through so much. She arrived with massive infections, open sores, dehydration, and an empty stomach. Her coat was a tangled mess of mud, debris, and burrs. Despite her rough start, April has shown incredible resilience and has settled into the rescue beautifully. April would do best as the only dog in a home where she can be the center of attention. She is loving and has a keen sense of her surroundings, making her an excellent watchdog. One of her most adorable features is her cute little pixie ears, which perk up at the slightest sound. While she’s happy at the rescue and eagerly flops down for belly rubs, her heart longs for a family who will appreciate her unique personality and charm. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will adore you and keep you safe, April is the perfect match. She’s ready to bring love and joy into your home. Could you be the one to give her the fresh start she’s been dreaming of? Contact us today to meet April and help make her dreams come true! 🐾❤️ Note: Great Pyrenees are considered a Giant Breed. Average weight can be 100lbs. or more. They bark, shed and have a wanderlust, so secure fences are a must have. They are NOT off leash dogs and a Pyr off leash is called a "dis'a'Pyr". Some Pyrs do well with other dogs and some don't because by the virtue of their breed traits they were bred to keep out intruders and can consider some dogs as intruders. While they make wonderful pets and family dogs, they aren't for everyone so be sure to understand and learn about the breed traits of this breed or any breed you might be considering.

Story
Meet Colt: The Gentle Giant With a Heart as Big as His Paws! ? If you’ve ever dreamed of having your very own horse-sized best friend, your wish has come true! Meet Colt, a 1-year-old, lanky, lovable galoot who’s ready to gallop his way right into your heart (and probably your fridge). When Colt came to us, he weighed just 115 lbs—skinny for a pup destined to grow into a 150-lb bundle of love. Now, with proper care and all the snacks, he’s well on his way to becoming the big, strong, and healthy boy he was meant to be. Here’s what you’ll love about Colt: ? He’s a gentle giant: Despite his size, Colt is an easy-going guy on the leash—though his strength might make you feel like you should saddle up instead of grabbing the leash. ? He’s an overgrown puppy: With his tall, lanky frame and goofy energy, Colt bounds into every room like he’s auditioning for the canine Olympics. ? He’s got charm for days: Smiles? Check. Tail wags? Non-stop. Colt loves everyone and everything, and his gratitude for being rescued shines through in every wag and grin. ? He’s a foodie: Colt LOVES to eat (did we mention he’s growing?), and while he’s a perfect gentleman at mealtime, he’s tall enough to counter-surf with ease. Translation: Don’t turn your back on a sandwich unless you want Colt to rate your cooking! Colt is the kind of dog who turns heads wherever he goes. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, loves to run and play, and has the potential to be a fantastic family dog for someone with a big yard and an even bigger heart. Abandoned before coming into rescue, Colt has been nothing but grateful for every moment of love and care he’s received. Now, he’s ready for his forever home—a place where he can grow, thrive, and bring endless joy to his new family. Warning: Colt’s love is highly contagious, and you’ll quickly wonder how you ever lived without this goofy, gentle, galloping giant. ? Want to meet Colt? Contact us today! Colt is ready to ride off into the sunset with a family who will love him as much as he’ll love them. ??

Story
Meet Odette, a young canine filled with boundless energy and joy. Her sweet and friendly nature makes her a delight to be around, and her goofy antics are sure to bring laughter and brighten up any day. When she`s not amusing everyone with her playful spirit, she`s spreading love with her warm cuddles. Odette is always ready for a game of fetch or a romp in the park. She`s a quick learner too, always eager to please and impress with her new tricks. Adopting Odette means opening your home to a bundle of love and fun. She promises a loyal companionship and endless entertainment. With Odette, every day is a new adventure filled with love and laughter. Odette is a strong girl and is still learning how to play gently, so we are requiring that any children in her new home are age 10 or older and recommend that her owners have experience with dog ownership so they can better address her training needs. She enjoys the company of other dogs, but her bubbly personality may be a bit overwhelming for some. If potential adopters already have a canine companion at home, we recommend participating in a dog introduction prior to adoption to see if Odette and her new friend will be a good match. She may do well with other dogs in her new home after a slow introduction. However, Odette will chase cats, so we are requiring that there are no cats in her new home. A consult with our Behavior and Management team will be provided to discuss her individual needs. We will be providing Odette`s adopters with a four week training voucher from GoodPup that her new family can use to get her started off right in the home.Adoption Price: $300

Story
Mellow is a 4-5 year old Great Pyrenees and I’m looking for a loving home with a spacious backyard where she can roam and play. This sweet, playful girl is full of love and enjoys all kinds of attention. Whether it’s cuddling on the couch or playing with her favorite toys, Mellow will be your loyal companion. She thrives on daily walks and affection and is both potty trained and crate trained. If there were ever a term to describe her, it would be “gentle giant” – she’s as calm and loving as she is big. Due to an upcoming move, I am unable to provide her the space she needs, and the new housing unfortunately doesn’t allow for her to come with me. It breaks my heart to let her go, but I’m hoping to find someone who can offer Mellow the care, love, and attention she truly deserves. She would make a wonderful addition to any family and will bring nothing but joy to the right home.

Story
Meet sweet Loki! We fostered him when his previous owners had to move unexpectedly. He is a fiercely loyal, giant sweetheart. He absolutely loves his humans and tolerates other pups. He would be best as an only dog, roaming outside with plenty of space and fresh air. Since we took him in on very short notice, he has outgrown our home and we are hoping to find him a loving owner who will give him a large play area and lots of attention. He knows basic commands (i.e. come, sit) and he has been trained to be an in-home dog. He is fully potty trained. Loki is approximately 3 years old and is up to date on all of his shots. An ideal new family would also be familiar with this breed of dog. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. We are not in a rush to rehome him, just want to find him a perfect new home where he will get lots of love, attention and outdoor time.

Story
Thelma is a beautiful Great Pyrenees mix approximately 4 years old. With her stunning white coat that resembles a Golden Retriever, she is sure to steal your heart. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her vaccinations.  Thelma came to us very sweet but insecure. Channa with K9 Paw Patrol graciously volunteered her time to work with Thelma and what a difference she has made for her! Here are the comments she made on her Facebook page about working with Thelma... "Lets welcome our beautiful girl Thelma! Thelma comes from a rescue that works as a team and the closest family I have personally ever met to find these beautiful dogs homes. Thelma is a Great Pyrenees that looks a little bit like a husky but had a lot of low self esteem and confidence due to a very unforgiving background as to how she ended up in the rescue. She came to me in hopes that we could get her to open up a little bit and learn how to do something she had never known before...Trust, and show us the goofy girl we know she is. Thelma isn't too sure about new people and had a hard time adapting to new environments. Thelma came to me as a very skittish, shy and jumpy girl. In the few weeks of training, she gained confidence and started opening up a little bit. She started looking to me for guidance, instead of completely avoiding eye contact and began trusting me to show her the ropes. She needs someone who can give her the love, care, patience and kindness that she desperately needs." And here are some videos of Thelma in action... Walking on leash:  https://videos.files.wordpress.com/UtRub028/thelma-vid-leash-1.mp4 Confidence-building and impulse control at Home Depot: https://videos.files.wordpress.com/GMbLBGOI/thelma-vid-hd-1.mp4 https://videos.files.wordpress.com/9iZr133p/thelma-vid-hd-2.mp4 Thelma loves to go on walks and does well indoors. Thelma dreams of finding her forever home...an indoor haven with an active family who will take her on magical walks and adventures! NOTE: Despite her breed, Thelma is NOT a suited to be a livestock guardian dog. January 7, 2025, 10:23 pm

Meet Brutus, the shelter`s resident sweet, friendly, and goofy canine! Brutus` playful energy is legendary, and his loyalty is unmatched. Now, you may wonder how this charmer ended up here. Well, Brutus fancied himself a detective and decided to solve the `Mystery of the Disappearing Sausages` from the local butcher shop. The butcher, amused, handed him over to the shelter, promising to supply Brutus with a lifetime of sausages. This energetic boy would thrive in a home with plenty of land for his detective duties.
