Story
Meet Lola, a dog whose heart is as big as her personality. Her sweetness is contagious, filling every room with warmth and love. Lola's friendly demeanor makes her a joy to be around, whether it's for a leisurely walk or a cozy cuddle session. She possesses a mellow temperament, which makes her a great companion for those seeking a calming presence. Lola's gentle spirit shines through in her interactions, displaying a level of kindness that is truly inspiring. Lola's adoption would mean a lifetime of unconditional love, loyalty, and friendship. Her gentle and mellow nature would bring peace and happiness to any home. Don't miss out on the chance to bring this sweet, friendly, and cuddly companion into your life. Lola is a 3 - 5 yr old female Great Pyrenees. She has a medium energy level, so she should fit in well with most homes provided she receives a moderate amount of daily exercise and play. She walks well on a leash with no pulling. Lola does not appear to be food motivated, but knows the command sit. She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel and is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. Story
He his about 4-5 years old. We got him when he was 3 months old from someone that could not keep him. We have 15 other dogs (all but 1 are small) and he is very protective of the yard, won’t let the other dogs go outside unless a human is present. He is an inside/outside dog trained to use dog door. We have other livestock on property however he has not been in same area as them. He has never physically harmed any of our little dogs but does scold them. If they wine/whimper he stops and they run back inside. He is very mellow, loves attention but ok when he doesn’t have it also. He has a mean bark but would give hugs to anyone that actually walks in the yard where he is. He has been seen catching and killing wild animals that are inside his yard including rabbits and snakes. Would do better with a family that doesn’t have other dogs or can keep other dogs in seperate living areas than his.

Story
Tiny's estimated DOB is 08/16/2020 and he's a brindle Great Pyrenees. Poor Tiny (AKA Timmy) came to us after his parents' home burned down and they had no place for him to go. But despite this tough time in his life, he remains a fun, loving boy who just wants to be the center of attention. He was recently with a wonderful foster who discovered that he is a pretty great dog to have around the house! He is house trained, doesn't chew on anything, and wasn't even scared around the vacuum! The foster had two other dogs who he was incredible around. On top of having zero food aggression while being fed next to them, when one of the older dogs got snippy and snarly around him he was respectful and gave him space, avoiding any scuffles or fights. Tiny is an incredibly smart dog - he even learned how to use a doggy door within minutes of being in the house! He is also an extremely loving dog. He attaches himself to people quickly and loves a good nighttime cuddle on the couch as well as sleeping by his person's side. He also thinks he is a lap dog (even though he is a little too big to fit!) so he needs reminders to keep all four paws on the floor when getting love. He has great leash manners and loves to play fetch. Tiny is extremely athletic and does need some training so he can learn to harness that energy into productive playing rather than zoomies around the house! He would do best with a family who is active outdoors or a home with lots of land for Tiny to play on. Tiny does get along with cats. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week.
