Story
1yo purebred Great Pyrenees. Comes from working lines. Born and raised in a barn. Honey ever lived outside but very docile in the house and will make a point to use the restroom outside. We got him to be a LGD on our farm. Unfortunately, we had an unexpected death in the family and had to move off the farm. My husband has severe allergenic asthma triggered by dogs and gets bad asthma attacks when there’s dogs in the house. Pubby is a wonderful and loyal dog. He does escape the fence at times and when he does, he usually stands post at the front of the house and barks. He does get destructive if left alone for too long without a job. He is not safe with poultry but I imagine he’d make a good guardian to sheep or goats with a little training. He will forego his doghouse in the rain so he can stand post by door. He may even do well inside if you’re home often. Patient with our young kids. Been finicky eater lately, maybe heat or depression. Strong on leash but obeys alright.

Story
See Luna live in action: https://www.swh.org/staff-favorites.htmlLuna is a 7-year-old Anatolian Shepherd/Pyrenees mix and a shelter favorite. She weighs around 90lbs and is a giant fluffball! She absolutely loves being outdoors in addition to playing with toys. She has some stranger danger in the beginning, and once she's comfortable with you, she will let you snuggle and love on her all you want! Luna enjoys the company of adults and would prefer not to have any kids or fur siblings in her future home. She'd be thrilled to find someone that will get her a huge bed to snooze on and lots of stuffies to play with. Luna is a sweetie pie, and she's ready to find her forever home!

Story
Hey there, I'm Banzai, a 3 year old Great Pyrenese with a heart of gold. I'm a friendly and gentle boy but I have not had any experience in an indoor home. I'd like to try it out but I need someone patient to understand I need time to adjust. I also wouldn't mind staying outdoors with the proper set up. I have been around horses and do fine, but as for other livestock I'm not sure. Take me home and I'll show you love. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2031970##

Story
Hello, I'm Mo! I'm the sweetest, friendliest, most curious and smartest dog you'll ever meet. My sidekick, Banzai, and I ended up here after a hilarious mix-up at the park. You see, we mistook the animal control van for the ice cream truck! We chased it all the way here and well, the rest is history. We've been making the best of our situation, causing laughter and spreading joy. If you're looking for a friend that can turn any situation into a comedy sketch, I'm your dogs. Adopt me, and let's create our own sitcom! Story
This sweet boy was left behind by his adored owner, through no fault of his. It very nearly broke his heart. He's coming around & is trusting with his whole heart again. He is SUPER smart (can open doors), and loyal to a fault. We'd like to see him go to a forever home with someone who can be with him a lot. Retired, take-your-dog-to-work adopter would be perfect. He is dog door trained & 100% accident free. No known serious baggage, i.e.; no storm, vet, or stranger phobias. Rides nicely in vehicle, behaves himself anywhere in public on leash. He will not be adopted to a working home as a livestock guardian. Pet/companion family only. Inside dog with outside privileges. Fenced yard required. Loves everyone but Is also very fond of men. Unusual for a rescue dog. UTD on all vacs, 4DX, micro chipped. Prefer Midwest, we will not put him on a commercial animal transport. Private vehicle only. Email us bearcreekrescue@gmail.com, we will try & get back to you within 24 hrs.

Story
Tiny's estimated DOB is 08/16/2020 and he's a brindle Great Pyrenees. Poor Tiny (AKA Timmy) came to us after his parents' home burned down and they had no place for him to go. But despite this tough time in his life, he remains a fun, loving boy who just wants to be the center of attention. He was recently with a wonderful foster who discovered that he is a pretty great dog to have around the house! He is house trained, doesn't chew on anything, and wasn't even scared around the vacuum! The foster had two other dogs who he was incredible around. On top of having zero food aggression while being fed next to them, when one of the older dogs got snippy and snarly around him he was respectful and gave him space, avoiding any scuffles or fights. Tiny is an incredibly smart dog - he even learned how to use a doggy door within minutes of being in the house! He is also an extremely loving dog. He attaches himself to people quickly and loves a good nighttime cuddle on the couch as well as sleeping by his person's side. He also thinks he is a lap dog (even though he is a little too big to fit!) so he needs reminders to keep all four paws on the floor when getting love. He has great leash manners and loves to play fetch. Tiny is extremely athletic and does need some training so he can learn to harness that energy into productive playing rather than zoomies around the house! He would do best with a family who is active outdoors or a home with lots of land for Tiny to play on. Tiny does get along with cats. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. For more information, please email us at havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647.

Story
I found Whiskey and his 9 siblings on a very busy road in the country, talked around to neighbors and found the “owners” who were just feeding them but not keeping them contained. So, I rescued the whole litter and working on getting them all UTD on vaccinations, spay/neuter, wellness exam, heartworm neg. and microchipped. Every single one of the pups are SO SO sweet and docile! They are all living in my backyard with adequate shelter during this time. Looking for rescue or direct adoption.

Story
I found Georgia and her 9 siblings running loose in the country assumably dumped. I took them all in and got them shots and spay/neuter. They are a little over a year old now. A few siblings have been adopted as Livestock Guardian Dogs and doing great at it. These dogs are loyal protectors. She would make a great outside protection dog. She is timid of meeting new people but once she trusts you and knows you are one of her people, she is very loving and a fierce protector. She is house trained, crated trained with meals and potty trained. She prefers to be outside most of the time. Available for rescue or adoption.
