Hussar, a male Pyrenees mix not quite a year old, boasts a wonderfully easy-going nature. Rescued from a neglectful and abusive situation where he was constantly chained outdoors, he's now seeking a forever home to provide the love and care he needs to thrive as the sweet and joyful dog he truly is. He's currently in a foster home with two other large dogs and gets along great! His experience with cats is limited, so he hasn't been tested around them. Hussar is both playful and calm with children, having aced the lively 5-year-old test! He revels in playtime, adores affection, and enjoys spending time in the yard, now free from chains. He has a fondness for women but remains slightly wary and cautious around men due to his past. Fed separately due to a bit of treat-envy, he's nonetheless an excellent companion for other dogs. Just like his "Stranger Things" namesake, Hopper can be slower to give his trust, but he is profoundly loyal to those that are close to him, a guardian at his core, maybe even from Demogorgons and Mind Flayers. We estimate Hopper to be about 5 years old. He strikes us as mostly Anatolian Shepherd, possibly mixed with German Shepherd or Akita, but that's just our lucky guess! Hopper came to the shelter as a stray, so not much is known about his past. Since being at the shelter, we have found that he is highly treat motivated, and has some pretty spectacular skills when it comes to catching them, even at rapid fire speed! It's quite impressive! Based on our interactions with him, we feel Hopper would likely do best in a home without young children, and with an adopter who can offer him the patience he needs to acclimate to a new environment.
