Story
This handsome and gentle boy is learning how great rescue life can be and is exploring at his own pace. Cooper prefers the comforts of home and loves being indoors next to his people. He reliably does his business outside and has shown to have wonderful house manners. He is great with children but may retreat if they are too loud, and he has shown no interest in chasing or bothering cats. He is polite but indifferent to other dogs, preferring to observe rather than engage in play. Fascinated by birds and squirrels, he watches them curiously but never pursues them. A true cuddle bug, he loves to sleep close to his human at night and prefers the couch or bed over dog beds. While Cooper has a habit of relocating shoes and socks, he doesn’t chew on them, and he occasionally nibbles his foster dad’s fingers during cuddle sessions. A quiet observer, he enjoys watching the world through the window but has been known to bark at his own reflection at night ("hey! there's a strange dog staring back at me!". Intelligent and curious, he isn’t particularly food-motivated—unless hot dogs are involved! Cooper's ideal home would have a calm environment with patient owners who can help him build confidence at his own pace along with a fenced yard. Cooper is a Bernese Mountain Dog/English Setter mix (our best guess of breeds) who was was born approximately 12-12-22 and weighs 50 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested heartworm negative and started on heartworm prevention. Story
MARR covers Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin and transportation is available for foster/adoption within those states. Zailey is currently in Indianapolis, IN. Zailey has been looking for her forever home and she keeps getting overlooked. As any pet, Zailey does have her challenges, but she has been working hard to overcome them. Zailey is fully muzzle and crate trained. She has also learned that barking does not get her what she wants, therefore she has resorted to throwing tantrums on the floor and couch. However, if you ask her if she wants a cookie, she snaps right out of it and comes leaping to wherever you are. She is a work in progress and is extremely food motivated so that is helpful with training. She knows sit, down, stay, bedtime, room, outside, inside, off, easy, and leave it. There are a couple of other commands she hasn't fully mastered but she is slowly getting there. Zailey has also almost mastered walking on a loose leash with her head halter, she has also been learning wait when crossing streets. I could go on and on about everything Zailey has learned while staying with her current fosters but that would be a novel. Zailey LOVES toys and even though she loves playing with them she rarely purposely destroys them and would rather throw them around. Zailey is a wonderful dog that just needs reassurance when facing new situations, people, and other dogs. She has learned that if her foster mom is calm then there is no need for her to react, Zailey would do best in a kid free household where she can get all the attention. Princess Zailey is very much spoiled and would love to show you her tricks in exchange for a treat. She needs someone that will be stern with her and hopefully is rottie savvy. Something else that will help her be very successful is following the decompression guide as she will not rest and nap unless she is alone. We believe Zailey could live with another dog in the home but it would require slow introductions and be a laid back dog for the best chance at long term success. Will you be her angel here on earth?

Story
MARR covers Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Chapo is being fostered in MO currently. However, transportation is available for adoptions within our coverage area. Chapo is a sweet, loyal, and playful boy who can be a bit nervous meeting new people. He does best when he can come to you on his own terms, at his own pace. He will start sniffing and nudging when he’s ready for pets. Chapo seems to prefer women over men, and can be especially protective of children. He has experience around kids aged 4 and 6 years. While Chapo does not currently live with any small dogs, he has done well with one through a fence. With both male and female large dogs, he is very playful and submissive. It is unknown how he is with cats. Chapo is still learning to heel and how to behave well on a leash. Although he is usually correctable, he will occasionally pull and whine if another dog seems reactive. He does know “sit, down, come, muzzle, shake, and go home (go to his crate).” In fact, he willingly goes into his crate every night. He is not food aggressive, and will wait for permission to eat. While he is still learning how to take treats gently, he is very food motivated and is great at catching them! Chapo has grown and made so much improvement in the time he has been in foster care! He’s a silly, playful pup at heart. Very treat motivated and learned house rules, house and crate training very quickly. He loves his foster family and loves to be near his humans. He also plays well by himself and loves to play with all toys and balls. He also knows when to calm down and will be quiet and sleep all day quietly in his crate if you work nights. He does tend to be skittish and anxious meeting new people, so slow, gradual intro are an absolute must. Please be patient with him and let him come to you on his own terms. When he’s ready to meet you, he typically comes to sniff you on his own. He’ll show he’s uncomfortable by barking at you. Since he is muzzle trained, and this may be the best option when meeting new people.
