Meet Miracle 🩷 Miracle is a Greater Swiss Mountain dog who came to us from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster County after it was decided that she was no longer profitable as a breeder mama. When we arrived to pickup Miracle the “breeder” was no longer willing to give her up “because she had an abscess”. This is a huge red flag, and our sign to fight even harder to get that dog in our possession as soon as possible. The only reason they wouldn’t send a dog away is if that dog’s condition was so horrendous they worry it could be used as evidence of their abuse. It took a lot of coaxing, but we begged him to allow us to assess and treat the wound and take it off of his hands. After a long conversation, he reluctantly agreed to let us “deal with it” and gave her over to us. During our evaluation of Miracle we found a large patch of sticky black liquid along her side. After a lot of careful cleaning and clipping we removed the substance and exposed a massive 12 inch, maggot covered, severely infected wound all down Miracle’s side. It was clear why the breeder did not want to give up this dog, but he also didn’t want to deal with her so he attempted to hide her wound from us by covering it up. We immediately rushed Miracle to the emergency vet hospital, where she received emergency surgery and underwent extensive cytology that determined this was an old wound caused by trauma. We don’t know what the trauma was, but we do know that it had been there for some time. Miracle was given an 80% chance of survival the first week after surgery, due to how severely infected that wound was. She now is over 3 weeks post surgery and doing phenomenal! She is feeling better, happy as can be, and has the best puppy dog eyes! She is a very lucky girl and sure acts like she knows how lucky she is to be alive. Miracle is dog and people friendly, very laid-back and easy-going, and wants nothing more than a family to love her! She’s doing great learning how to live in a home and with foster family, and has really come to love snuggling up on a dog bed!                                                                              KENNEL ID #18804 Everyone who sees Mya thinks she is a Rottie mix, or a Mountain Cur mix so we put that in her bio since anything is possible with mixed breeds. The puppies have started their crate and house training and are picking it up very quickly.  These six puppies were an accidental litter born on December 22 during an Eagles game. Their mother looks to have some Australian Shepherd and Retriever in her mix. She escaped the house when the owner's five-year-old forgot to close the gate. She was missing for eight days, so the identity of the father or fathers is unknown. The puppies have been raised around children and other pets, making them very well-socialized. They are currently being fostered in Diane's home and are going through puppy boot camp. They know that if they chase a cat, the cat will correct their mistake.
