Story
Somebody get me out of this old age home! That’s what Boomer is saying about his stay here at Four-Legged Forgotten Oldies. Boomer is a very healthy, playful, and active 10-year-old Havanese/Terrier mix. While the other dogs who live here are happy to nap the day away, Boomer loves to run and go for long walks. He really needs to find a great new home who can give him the time and exercise he would like. Boomer came to us after he was surrendered by his owner to the shelter. His owner said he didn’t like children, so adults-only homes please. During Boomer’s behavior test at the shelter, he showed signs of resource guarding for food and toys. We have seen some evidence of that when he is around the other dogs. We are hoping to find the ideal home for Boomer. We learned that his previous owner was physically and verbally abusive to him. As a result, Boomer can be fearful at times. If he thinks he’s going to be scolded, he retreats to the sofa or a corner and will growl and become defensive. He needs a new home that will be patient and loving with him, as well as knowledgeable on how to deal with his behaviors. Boomer is smart. He knows how to sit, stay, and come, and also gives kisses on command. He really wants to be a loving, trusting dog. He has come a long way since he arrived here last month. Are you the new person he is looking for to give him his happy, forever after? FLFO requires a home visit therefore adopters must be within 40 miles of Baldwin MD.

Story
At 15 years old, Hugo was dropped off for boarding in December 2023 by his owner who then never returned for him. He spent 4 months there before being turned over to the shelter as an abandoned dog. Not only is he a super senior pup, he is also diagnosed with advanced heart disease. His heart is unfortunately very large which causes him to have rapid breathing and cough spells. The last place for a dog in this condition should be the shelter. We picked him up immediately once he became available for rescue without a second thought. The stress of being in the shelter with his heart condition could have killed him.    Hugo is safe and spending every second absorbing the love and care that he deserves more than anything. He is the sweetest little guy with the cutest little trot. The pep in his step melts your heart knowing that he will never feel alone again. We do not know how much time we have with Hugo, but we will take advantage of every second that we do have. While it is a long shot, we would love to find Hugo a forever family where he will never feel abandoned again. He is literally great with everyone and everything. He doesn't bother a soul and just wants to lay around the house with you. He deserves to spend the rest of his days being a part of a loving home that will spoil him to the very end.
