Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello…my name is Walter. I was given my name because I have a sweet older soul and a gentle demeanor. I am soft hearted and love everyone including kids, other dogs and especially my brother Hershey. Not to sure about cats as I haven’t met any yet. My soft heart has lots of love to give but also makes me a little timid with loud noises and when I feel like I am in trouble (even though I’m not). I am still figuring out the world and learning how to play with other dogs and walk on a leash. I get a little nervous about new things but am super curious and brave enough to check things out on my own. I am mostly potty trained with the exception of when I have a tummy ache because I ate something that was not on my regular food plan. Being on a consistent diet has been really helpful and so are reminders to go potty. I am a great companion and love being near humans, a lot, and often ask for and give lots of love by hugging human legs with my paws or making myself present. I also enjoy lounging in the sun, playing with humans and dogs, snuggling with humans, tossing toys around, car rides and just being out in the world. I have recently discovered my teeth and enjoy gnawing on things but don’t really chew anything up. I also like to carry shoes and socks to my bed but that’s mainly because I like to keep my humans near when they aren’t around. I’m looking forward to my furever home where I can spend all day playing and snuggling with my family. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  At Laramie Animal Welfare Society, the first step to adoption is completing an adoption application on our website www.laramieanimals.org. Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by our adoption team which typically takes 7+ days.  Keep in mind, the animal you’re interested in when applying may be adopted and no longer available by the time your application is approved. We do not place animals on hold.   Pending approval, your application is valid for 6 months. Also pending approval, you will receive contact information, so that you may inquire about the personalities of specific animals. Adoptions for individual animals will occur by private adoption appointment. Because we are 100% foster-based, appointments are scheduled pending staff, foster home, and vetting schedules.  Should you want to proceed with the adoption, a brief appointment will occur at our adoption center to sign adoption paperwork, receive medical records, and pay the adoption fee.    **Dog/Puppy applications -  Because of the large volume of dog/puppy applications we are receiving these applications may take longer to process, please be patient. We do not do first come first serve but we place the dog/puppy in the best suited home. If you have questions about the Dog/Puppy process please email lawsdogprogram@gmail.com** July 14, 2024, 1:38 pm
We'll also keep you updated on Hershey's adoption status with email updates.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello…my name is Hershey. I was given my name because I am brown like chocolate and just as sweet. I am soft hearted and love everyone including kids, other dogs and especially my brother Walter…he is kind of like my security blanket but I am getting much braver. I’m not to sure if I like cats as I haven’t met any yet. I am a bit timid and like to observe the world first just to make sure it is safe. I am most comfortable in my kennel when I don’t feel safe but have started to sleep on my dog bed outside my kennel. When I get nervous I bark a little but quickly calm when I discover everything is ok. My soft heart has lots of love to give but also makes me a little timid with loud noises and when I feel like I am in trouble (even though I’m not). I am still figuring out the world and learning how to play with other dogs and walk on a leash. I love going for walks but stay behind my human and let them go first. I get a little nervous about new things but am super curious and getting better about checking things out on my own. I am trying my best to be brave but need lots of reassurances that the world is safe and that I am loved. I am mostly potty trained with the exception of when I have a tummy ache because I ate something that was not on my regular food plan. Being on a consistent diet has been really helpful and reminders to go potty are still helpful.
