Story
Meet Mookey! Mookey is a sweet but very nervous pup looking for a patient, understanding owner. He thrives in a quiet, stable environment and is best suited for a single-person household. Once he bonds, he will be your shadow—always by your side, snuggling up, and following you everywhere (yes, even the bathroom!). He was rescued from a high kill shelter who told us he was abandoned there in a bag. Mookey has been through a lot, and would be best suited in a home that can give him time and patience to open up. More from his foster: - Housebroken with access to potty pads (prefers to poop indoors, especially at night). - Crate-trained and sleeps in his crate overnight with a small treat. - Quiet & well-mannered. Doesn’t bark when others do. - Not destructive when left home alone, but keep pads down. - Best for apartments. Prefers indoor life and feels safest at home. - Nervous outside. He hates night walks, finds public places overwhelming, and is always on edge outside. - Not social with strangers or large groups. Family gatherings will overwhelm him, and he may nibble if uncomfortable. - One-person dog. He will take time to bond, but once he does, he will be extremely loyal and affectionate. Additional Considerations: - Needs slow introductions to new situations and people. - Will play-nibble when excited or anxious. Avoid waving fingers in his face. - Feels Safe in vehicles. Quiet and calm during rides. - Prefers having a potty pad on a patio or being taken outside with supervision. - Needs guidance to use a doggie door but will adapt over time. Mookey is looking for someone patient, calm, and willing to give him the time he needs to feel safe. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will be your best friend once he trusts you, Mookey could be the perfect match! Be ready to adopt. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. Please fill out our online application and our adoption counselor will reach out to you to discuss meeting your new family member.

Story
Poppy is almost 1.5 years old and has become more aggressive with my female dachshund and food aggressive with my cats, although she loves my senior kitty. She was made more aggressive by the neighbor dogs on both sides that attack the fence whenever she is out. She is very well-trained, but since we live in the high desert, she will catch rodents. She leaves them after a bit. She loves toys and will share with my pitbull (male). She has never had a real bone, so I don't know how she is, but you can take her food bowl away and toys. She eats twice a day, home cooked food, but will eat dry and canned, but is not a gulper. She'll leave it if she is full. She's very devoted and loving. She sleeps on a dog bed on the floor, although my daughter lets her sleep with her on her bed. She's very clean. I love her very much, but as she becomes more aggressive to the other animals, I'm afraid she will either hurt them or they will hurt her. If you want a single dog, she is perfect.
